How Does Mushroomancer Work in Monster Hunter Wilds

Mushroomancer is an equipment skill that is available in Monster Hunter Wilds fairly on in the game. After players fight Congalala during Chapter 1: Forest Findings’ main quest, the Conga armor is unlocked, allowing players to get their hands on the Mushroomancer skill and its effects.

Like many other skills in the game, however, what Mushroomancer does exactly is not explained in-game, and hunters are simply told that they will be able to ‘digest mushrooms’ to gain beneficial effects. But while they are informed about which mushrooms they need to eat, they are not told what the effects are going to be when they do eat them. Here is how it works.

Is Mushroomancer Worth It in Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds Wudwud

The Mushroomancer skill is a huge quality of life change for players who are not fans of constantly having to craft potions for difficult battles. It changes the way the preparation for a hunt is carried out completely. Instead of having to go and find twenty-five different materials from across the map to craft a new batch of potions, players only have to gather seven—and even that is an exaggeration.

At level 3 Mushroomancer, the best mushrooms to collect are Nitroshroom (boosts attack), Parashroom (boosts defenses), and Mandragora (full heals). The Exciteshroom (random effect) is essentially useless, and the Toadstool (passive heal) and Blue Mushroom (minor heal) get outshone by the others. Devil’s Blight (restore Stamina) is also good but only for builds that are constantly running into Stamina problems, and it’s rarer than the other mushrooms, which makes it harder to collect.

All gathering materials, including mushrooms needed to activate the Mushroomancer skill, respawn every 15 minutes (real-time).

The downside to Mushroomancer is that the Conga set is not the best in Monster Hunter Wilds, even at High Rank. Luckily, players have the option of using the Mushroom Charms (Talismans) instead to get the same effect without the sacrifice.
