Funko Fusion Adds Even More Wicked DLC Characters

More Wicked characters are now available in Funko Fusion as part of its Wicked Pack 3, with Winkie Prince Fiyero making his debut in the game alongside new versions of frenemies Elphaba and Glinda. While previously released versions of Elphaba and Glinda are already available in Funko Fusion, this new pack features them in their school attire, reflecting life at Shiz University.

Universal’s Wicked movie’s popularity has been a shot in the arm for movie musicals. An adaptation of the first act of the 2003 Broadway musical of the same name, the movie premiered in theaters last November and has grossed close to $730 million worldwide since then. Recently, it took home two Oscar trophies at the 97th Academy Awards after being nominated for 10, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, and Best Supporting Actress for Ariana Grande as Glinda.

Back in December, publisher-developer 10:10 Games released its first two Wicked DLC Packs for Funko Fusion. One contained villains Madame Morrible and The Wizard, while the other focused on main characters Elphaba and Glinda. In the original release, Elphaba is decked out in her classic Wicked Witch attire from the end of the film, while Glinda reflects her queen-like appearance from its opening number. Alluding to earlier imagery from the film, this new pack displays the duo as they appeared upon their arrival to Shiz, with Glinda in her gray-and-pink striped suit and Elphaba sporting her now iconic asymmetrical glasses. Likewise, Fiyero wears the regal attire from his first meeting with Elphaba in the woods and his big “Dancing Through Life” musical number in the library.

The DLC pack, which is being sold for $4.99, is available now for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam versions of Funko Fusion, though there’s no word yet on a release for Nintendo Switch. It includes one more character and a lower introductory price point than the first two packs, which originally sold for $7.99 apiece. It’s also being sold for half the price of the more recent Funko Fusion Universal Monsters DLC, although that pack contains four characters: Dracula, Bride of Frankenstein, Invisible Man, and Wolf Man.

While the new pack offers more options for fans of Wicked in the game, it follows layoffs by Funko Fusion‘s developer that were reportedly tied to the game’s poor performance. Reports from February stated that 10:10 Games had informed 19 different employees in mid-January that they would be losing their jobs, and inside sources stated that the cuts were attributed to the game’s poor market performance.
