Colossal Bone Location in Monster Hunter Wilds

Colossal Bone is an Equipment Material in Monster Hunter Wilds that is used in the forging of many pieces of High Rank gear. To obtain this material, players must kill and carve one of two small monsters, though they may be unclear about which monsters they should target. This guide is here to shine some light on that matter, and it will make it easy for players to get their hands on Colossal Bones in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Colossal Bone can only be obtained upon reaching High Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds. While players should not need Colossal Bone prior to entering High Rank, this requirement for its acquisition is being mentioned for the sake of full clarity.

Congas in Scarlet Forest

Players have a 50% chance of receiving a Colossal Bone when carving the carcasses of High Rank Congas, small ape-like monsters that appear in the Scarlet Forest. Filter Icons make finding these monsters quite simple, and here is how players can use that feature to search for Colossal Bones in the Forest:

  1. Fast travel to the Scarlet Forest via the World Map.
  2. Open the local map.
  3. Select Filter Icons in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
  4. Navigate to the Small Monsters category.
  5. Select the Conga entry, and choose “Set Highlight.” This will cause all the Congas on the map to be marked with a blue dot.
  6. Hover over one of the marked Congas, and press the “Set Waypoint” input that is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
  7. Use the Seikret’s Auto-move Mode to automatically travel to the waypoint.
  8. Upon arrival, kill the Conga and carve its carcass for a chance to earn a Colossal Bone.
  9. Repeat Steps 6-8 to easily reach the other Congas on the map.

To note, if a player is unable to find any Congas on the map, they may want to instead look for a Congala, a large monster in Monster Hunter Wilds that acts as the small monster’s counterpart. Indeed, Congas have a tendency to appear near Congalas, and players can see if that large monster is currently available by opening the Forest’s local map, pressing the “Environment Overview” input that is displayed at the bottom of the screen, and navigating to the “Forecast” tab.

Blangos in Iceshard Cliffs

Players also have a 50% chance of receiving a Colossal Bone when carving the carcass of a High Rank Blango, a small ape-like monster that spawns in the Iceshard Cliffs. Once again, players can use the Filter Icons feature to easily look for Colossal Bones in the Cliffs, and here is how that is done:

  1. Fast travel to the Iceshard Cliffs via the World Map.
  2. Open the local map.
  3. Select Filter Icons in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
  4. Navigate to the Small Monsters category.
  5. Select the Blango entry, and choose “Set Highlight.” This will cause all the Blangos on the map to be marked with a blue dot.
  6. Hover over one of the marked Blangos, and press the “Set Waypoint” input that is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
  7. Use the Seikret’s Auto-move Mode to automatically travel to the waypoint.
  8. Upon arrival, kill the Blango and carve its carcass for a chance to earn a Colossal Bone.
  9. Repeat Steps 6-8 to easily reach the other Blangos on the map.

Just like Congas, Blangos in Monster Hunter Wilds have a large-monster counterpart: Blangonga. If a player cannot find any Blangos when using Filter Icons, they should instead target that large monster, and they may find that it is surrounded by the small monsters that are of interest.
