Monster Hunter Wilds is not a traditional RPG as players won’t attack monsters and then level up upon gaining EXP. Instead, they can craft gear to raise their stats. That said, there is a leveling-up system in the game but it belongs to the player’s furry companion, the Palico.

Level up your Hunter quickly through these optional hunts and quests.
Palicos will level up after missions and unlock abilities in Monster Hunter Wilds. Some of these abilities will be upgraded naturally as the game progresses and some upgrades or unlocks are tied to side quests. Players cannot direct Palicos to use these abilities but the A.I. is generally smart enough to know when they should be deployed. So, of the many abilities in the game, these are the most useful.

Plunderang
Steal Items From Enemies
Plunderang is a weapon/ability that will allow Palicos to steal from monsters. It’s another way to get materials for crafting besides exploiting the Wound system in Monster Hunter Wilds. It’s a move straight out of Final Fantasy 7 as the thief in that game, Yuffie, also used throwing utensils from boomerangs to giant shurikens. Plunderang will not directly help take down monsters in the game but more materials are never a bad thing. How accurate the ability can be is not known but hopefully, the player’s Palico will take some aiming lessons while back at camp.

Place Paracorn
Set A Makeshift Shock Trap
Place Paracorn is an ability for players who like to capture monsters rather than slay them in Monster Hunter Wilds. Capturing a monster will usually net more materials and end missions quicker. First, players have to weaken an enemy, then they need to use either a Pitfall Trap or Shock Trap and end the process by throwing a Tranquilizer Bomb or two.

The Paracorn in this ability will act as a makeshift Shock Trap, allowing Palicos to assist their partners in the capturing process. It’s a good support ability as is Flashfly Cage which can stun monsters with a bright flash of light.

Sporenent: Song O’ Power
Raise Attack Power Temporarily
Sporenent: Song o’ Power is a melody Palicos can play to boost the player’s attack strength temporarily. There are many other ways to raise strength temporarily too including Hunters who use Hunting Horns and items in Monster Hunter Wilds like Demondrug. Sporenent: Song o’ Power adds a passive way for players to get a boost randomly when Palicos feel like it and another Palico ability, Sporenent: Song o’ Purrtection, will raise the player’s defensive stats temporarily.
4
Let-‘Er-RRRip
Your Palico Carts Around A Ballista
Let-‘Er-RRRip is a useful and adorable ability that may have some players confused at first. Palicos will pop out a ballista on wheels and start attacking a monster until they are all out of arrows. When in a party of two, it’s fun to watch the corresponding Palico companions use these deadly karts together. How much damage they do is a mystery but that is beside the point. They’re good for at least distracting enemies while players gear up for brutal attacks with their melee or ranged weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds.
3
Vigorwasp Delivery
A Splash Of Healing
Healing is one of the most vital things in Monster Hunter Wilds and Palicos has a few ways of helping with that. Players should be familiar with Vigorwasps which are those mosquito-like bugs in the environment filled with green goo. Players can pop them manually if they need an extra dousing or they can wait for their Palicos to use the Vigorwasp Delivery ability. There is another healing ability like this to cure status effects called Purewasp Delivery, which uses Purewasps naturally, and Palicos can even call Vigorwasps to flood the area via the Attract Vigorwasps ability.
2
Rath-From-Above
Your Palico Pilots An Airship To Fire From Above
Rath-from-Above is a lot like Let-‘Er-RRRip except that Palicos get to pilot mini-airships and rain down a barrage of missiles from above. It has to be the cutest thing Capcom has put into the series and fans would surely love some sort of statue to hang by their desk to commemorate this ability.

Adorability aside, the rare of fire seems to be heavier and more effective than the ballista ability. The one downside is that it takes a while to recharge, so hopefully the Palico partner knows how to strategically time and use their abilities well.
1
Vigorwasp Revival
Revive Once Per Mission
Vigorwasp Delivery and Purewasp Delivery are two great healing abilities but it is trumped by this ultimate skill: Vigorwasp Revival. With a potent bug, Palicos can revive their partner once per mission and even after that it takes a while to recharge. Falling in battle is a pain in the game but typically players have three tries shared among partners before it is Game Over. If players go at it alone in Monster Hunter Wilds, then they get these three revivals all to themselves plus this extra revival via Vigorwasp Revival. Is it recommended to play the game solo without the help of even Support Hunters? No, but going in with just a Palico is a challenge that some diehard fans may enjoy.
