Best Monsters To Farm In Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds is a great game for players looking to get into the series. There is a myriad of reasons why, one of them being the new A.I.-assisted Support Hunters. No longer do players have to rely on other players online to do the same quest. Three Support Hunters can fill up the party and that’s that.

Overall though, the monsters feel less threatening in Monster Hunter Wilds which is to say it feels more balanced. These monsters in particular are easy to farm for parts. Those who want to craft strong builds should look at these monsters to slay. Also, because they’re easier to tackle, they are more fun to grind.

Chatacabra

A Ripped Toad

Fighting Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds
  • First Encountered: Slimy Situation
  • Area: Windward Plains

Chatacabra is a big toad in Monster Hunter Wilds with ripped arms ready to break players. It’s a smaller creature and the first one players will be allowed to hunt. It becomes very easy to defeat with every return because its only true power is its tongue and even that is easy to dodge. It’s a good monster to practice with any of the fourteen weapons in the game. Players can get some good armor off this simplistic toad and they should especially if they like putting goggles on their characters in an RPG.

Quematrice

Pluck This Bird’s Feathers

Fighting Quematrice with co-op allies in Monster Hunter Wilds
  • First Encountered: Hot on Their Tails
  • Area: Windward Plains

Quematrice is the second monster players will face which has more of a challenge than the Chatacabra. This bird is infused with fire and it can strike up the ground to create a burning circle. Its peck attack is also lethal along with its clawed feet.

Hunters’ mouths will be watering from these tasty dishes that provide valuable food boosts in Monster Hunter Wilds.

While it may be tricky on the first go, players should be able to figure out that attacking its tail feathers will bring it down quickly. Players can craft some fire-infused weapons from its materials and some armor that can make them look like a Red Mage from the Final Fantasy series.

Congalala

A Small But Mighty Force

Fighting Congalala with A.I. allies in Monster Hunter Wilds
  • First Encountered: Drive off the Congalala
  • Area: Scarlet Forest

Congalala is a returning monster who first appeared back for Monster Hunter 2, which is a game that was never released outside of Japan on the PS2. It’s the first monster where players will really have to worry about healing status effects in Monster Hunter Wilds including Paralysis, Poison, and Stench. That said, it’s easy to tell when it’s about to launch a status attack as it will either burp or fart a gaseous mist. It’s small like the Chatacabra, making it much less of a threat if players stay away from its stinky clouds.

4

Doshaguma

Great For Defense And Offense

Fighting Doshaguma with A.I. allies in Monster Hunter Wilds
  • First Encountered: Pinnacle of the Pack
  • Area: Windward Plains

Doshaguma is a big beast in Monster Hunter Wilds that one could liken to an ugly bear. Players need to defeat a bigger version, the alpha, during the Pinnacle of the Pack mission, but most Doshaguma appearances after this are much less menacing. It has a lot of HP so it can take a bit to take down. Without status effects or elemental powers though, this beast only has the strength of its body mass which is easy to get away from. It’s a good monster to grind as weapons produced from it typically add a rare Defense bonus like the Dosha Fearbringer 1.

3

Rey Dau

Easy Once You Figure Out The Pattern

Fighting Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds
  • First Encountered: A Merciless Glare
  • Area: Windward Plains

Monster Hunter Wilds’ Rey Dau looks like many of the wyvern/dragon types in the series, like a Rathalos, except that this one is infused with electricity. Now, this may be the first monster players will die at but only if they aren’t paying attention to its attack patterns. Once they master them, this lightning dragon will become a cinch. Its deadliest attack is its lightning breath which could one-shot players. Thankfully, the tell is more than obvious so players just need to dodge it. Once they master it, it’ll be a fun challenge to return too especially since it can produce some killer gear to make players look like a demon.

2

Nerscylla

Great For Farming Its Babies Too

Fighting Nerscylla in Monster Hunter Wilds
  • First Encountered: The Quiet, Cunning Assassin
  • Area: Iceshard Cliffs

Nerscylla is a giant spider and another returning monster from the series, this time from Monster Hunter 4. Monster Hunter Wilds does have a new spider though, the Lala Barina, which is cooler looking but not as easy to grind through.

Master the elements and increase elemental resistance to face the strongest monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Players should only have to fight Nerscylla in two areas before they can defeat it and most monsters usually have three to four areas. The last area is its nest which is filled with babies. They won’t pose much of a threat plus they have good materials too.

1

Xu Wu

A Tentacled Beast

Fighting Xu Wu in Monster Hunter Wilds
  • First Encountered: A Hunter in the Void
  • Area: Ruins of Wyveria

Xu Wu is one of the last monsters players will fight in the lower sections of the game. It is the second tentacled beast following the Nu Udra which is challenging in Monster Hunter Wilds. The Xu Wu is smaller and its tentacles have less of a reach thankfully. It also doesn’t have fire and the areas players will fight it in are more spacious. It’s nice that such a late entry can still be fun to fight on repeat and players will want to create some armor that will make them look like Sheik from the Zelda franchise. That is, if players created a female Hunter.
