Ubisoft’s previously revealed session-based co-op shooter, Project U, has apparently had its intro cinematic leaked online. The cinematic, which was shared on YouTube, clocks in at just under three minutes, and gives gamers their best look yet at the world, characters and artstyle of the game.
The leak, which was first posted in Reddit’s Gaming LeaksandRumours subreddit, cannot be verified as Project U. However, all signs are pointing to it being associated with the game. As of this writing, the trailer has not been DMCA’d by any party, though it is largely expected to be at some point.

What Is Project U?
Originally unveiled in 2022, the project seemingly became public via a new website stating that Project U was a “session-based co-op shooter, where many players unite to prevail against an overwhelming threat.” At the time, Ubisoft was soliciting players to participate in a playtest, and by October of that year, additional cinematics gave us our first look at what the project was aiming to be.
The U in Project U allegedly stands for “Unite,” as, according to its creative director, “You will discover very quickly if you want to prevail in this game, uniting with other players is a must.”
According to reporting from Insider Gaming, internally the game is being called “Pathfinder,” with it aiming to be a new take on PvPvE gameplay. However, according to its sources, the game’s replayability became the source for pushbacks and delays, leading to a massive budget increase.
However, rather than pull the plug entirely, in 2024, it was reported that Ubisoft had returned it to the drawing board, placing it in the hands of an incubation team. Citing the success of Helldivers 2, according to the report, Ubisoft believed the game could still be successful. Ultimately, only time will tell whether the intro cinematic leaked on Friday is a sign of more to come, or if it is a relic of a game that was never meant to be.
