The Walking Dead fans are happy to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s iconic villain Negan Smith in the spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City since he’s so haunting and creepy. Negan has quite the journey on the AMC drama, and when viewers learn he’s in charge of the Saviors, it’s clear that his violent and aggressive nature is going to cause a lot of trouble. Although Negan is of course based on the comic book character and therefore has a strong foundation, Morgan truly brings him to life, and it’s one of the greatest villain performances on any long-running TV series.
Morgan has appeared in several high-profile TV shows, and besides The Walking Dead, he had a long arc on Grey’s Anatomy as Denny Duquette. The actor also starred in the 2024 slasher movie Bloody Axe Wound. The Walking Dead fans won’t want to miss a 2022 survival thriller film that Morgan had a great role in.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s 2022 Thriller Fall Is Worth Watching
Although Jeffrey Dean Morgan has a small role in the 2022 survival thriller movie Fall, he’s still a powerful presence as always. Morgan played James Conner, the father of the main character Becky Conner (Grace Caroline Currey). After a tragedy befalls Dan, his widow Becky and her best friend Shiloh Hunter (Virginia Gardner) decide to climb a 2,000-foot tower. As audiences can expect from the premise and the title, Becky and Hunter get stuck, and they have to fight for survival throughout the rest of the movie. Like the two main characters in the upcoming survival thriller The Nowhere Game, Becky and Hunter need to use their intelligence and quick instincts if they’re going to figure out a way to get down or be rescued.
Fall is not only an entertaining story that draws viewers in from the start, but it has a few big twists that are effective and haunting. Morgan may not be in much of the movie, but the actor plays a pivotal part in the 2022 thriller movie. Saying more would spoil his part, but it’s safe to say that The Walking Dead fans who want to check out every role on Morgan’s resume will want to add Fall to their list.
In 2016, Morgan told Interview Magazine that while he has played some villains, he has portrayed some other characters who are much kinder than the bad guys, like Negan and his weapon of choice. The actor said:
“If you look at my résumé, I’ve more often than not played a very solid, decent human being. I’ve got back-to-back things that are super villainous right now with Desierto and this.”
Although Negan is a father and has some caring moments, he’s of course prickly and aggressive on the outside and doesn’t want people to see him as vulnerable. In contrast, Morgan’s Fall character James Conner is a much more compassionate parent who plays an important role in their child’s life. In his Interview Magazine chat, Morgan continued:
“I love playing a villain. I think that there’s something freeing about that, and it’s a different kind of challenge. More than anything, for me as an actor, it’s about challenging myself and doing as many different things as I can. I don’t know that I feel comfortable playing a villain; as a matter of fact I probably don’t feel comfortable, which is why I like it so much.”
Where Can Fans Stream Fall?
Fans can stream Fall on Hulu, a streaming service that has some great recent additions like the Predator franchise. There are so many reasons to subscribe to Hulu, including the fact that the platform has underrated horror movies like Late Night With The Devil, which Stephen King is a fan of.
There are more than a few excellent 2022 horror movies, and while Fall might have gotten lost in the crowd, it deserves a lot of praise. If someone is scared of heights, they might have some trouble watching the film since Becky and Hunter spend most of the movie up high. But besides that obstacle, it’s worth watching Fall to see great performances from Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Mason Gooding, Virginia Gardner, and Grace Caroline Currey.
In one interview about Fall with Pop Culturalist, Gardner and Currey addressed whether they were scared of heights before filming. Currey said she isn’t, and Gardner said that while she wasn’t prior to shooting, she isn’t a big fan of being up high now. Currey also talked about the experience of filming from high up and said:
“the biggest thing when we were shooting was trusting the harnesses and the wires, and how all the stunts worked and the mechanics behind it helped me with the height elements for sure.”
