10 Changes To Make Avowed Go From Good To Great

Avowed just needed a few more tweaks to be great.

Although you may think high fantasy RPGs mainly give you options between blades and spells, Avowed provides both pistols and arquebuses for you to play with. If firearms are your weapon of choice, Avowed has a few nice options for your playthrough. Among the selection of firearms, some truly stand out and are worth getting your hands on.

Caeroc’s Pride

Location: Ondra’s Reach, Dawnshore

The godlike wields Caeroc's Pride and Sheathed In Summer.

Distant Thunder

Enemies receive high shock damage after a power attack.

Thunder’s Fall

Enemies within range receive high shock damage after a power attack.

Wrath of the Storm

+25% of casting Crackling Bolt upon successful kill.

You can get one of the best pistols quite early into your gameplay by completing a certain bounty. You’ll need to defeat the Tempestuous Luandi, a miscreant who’s made his base in Ondra’s Reach in Dawnshore. If you watch carefully, Luandi will be using Caeroc’s Pride during the fight.

Once Luandi and his underlings are defeated, you can pilfer the very pistol he used from his corpse. As you can tell by wielding this pistol, Caeroc’s Pride can deal lightning damage with every bullet shot. You can cause greater shock damage by enchanting this pistol back at camp. The gun is also handy for activating switches for puzzle doors without the need to waste your essence.

Fair Play

Recompense

+5% Health and +25% Stamina upon successful kill.

Turnabout

+10% Health and +50% Stamina upon successful kill.

Equal Footing

Draws targeted enemy into range after a power attack.

Alongside another firearm on this list, Fair Play can only be obtained by purchasing it from Kampeki in Thirdborn (her shop is directly to the left of the city’s main entrance). Setting you back a hefty 29,160 gold coins, Fair Play carries slightly more firepower than the average pistol.

Although it doesn’t have any unique passive abilities that cause elemental damage, Fair Play allows you to restore a sizeable chunk of your stamina bar and ten percent of your health whenever you kill an enemy. Of course, you can boost the latter by enchanting, but overall, Fair Play is a good weapon to have in your arsenal.

4

Magic Mistol

Location: Ekidan Workshop, Galawain’s Tusks

The godlike wields Magic Mistol and Caeroc's Pride.

Infused Shot

Enemies receive high stun damage after performing a power attack.

Unstable Shot

Enemies receive moderate stun damage after performing a power attack.

Pistoleer’s Grace

You receive an additional 50% reload speed for ten seconds after a successful kill.

Located in the Slumbering Fields area in Galawain’s Tusks, this unique pistol can be found in the Ekidan Workshop. But you’ll most likely stumble into Magic Mistol while doing the Boundaries of Antiquity side quest, where it’s kept in a chest in a hidden section of the workshop.

Like Caeroc’s Pride, Magic Mistol has a unique power: every bullet shot has a honing ability. Additionally, the pistol has a high stun capability, with enchantments to give this firearm a bit more oomph.

The godlike wields One Last Trick against a maegfolc.

Ricochet

Bullets fired kill an additional enemy nearby.

Trick Shot

Bullets fired kill two additional enemies in the vicinity.

Incendiary Charge

Bullets fired cause low fire damage and kill an additional enemy nearby.

The only way to get your hands on this arquebus is by completing the side quest, Steel Resolve.

Similarly to Fair Play, One Last Trick doesn’t deal elemental damage but can cause bullets to ricochet and hit another enemy. Alongside an increased reload speed, you can enchant this weapon to increase the number of enemies affected or to unleash minor fire damage on enemies.

2

Heavenstrike

Location: Solace Keep, Galawain’s Tusks

The godlike wields the Heavenstrike weapon in Avowed.

Ondra’s Scorn

Ondra’s Anger

Lunar Champion

You receive an additional 5% damage reduction for ten seconds after a successful kill.

You can’t purchase this firearm from a vendor, nor can you receive it as a reward for completing a quest. Instead, you’ll have to do a bit of extra legwork by finding starmetal fragments scattered across the Living Lands.

Once you get the starmetal and approach Forgemaster Dela, you’ll get the first iteration of arquebus, Moonstrike. But if you want greater physical and stun damage, you’ll need to get more starmetal to finally upgrade it to get Heavenstrike. Heavenstrike (and Moonstrike) grants you the ability to deal frost damage on your enemies, with the opportunity to enchant the gun to either mete out higher frost damage to multiple enemies or a minor increase in damage reduction from enemies.

1

Izmatl’s Meteoric Apparatus

Location: Thirdborn, Shatterscarp

The godlike wields Izmatl's Meteoric Apparatus in battle.

Meteoric Burst

Meteoric Devastation

Enemies gain moderate fire accumulation upon a successful kill.

Lingering Inferno

Most likely the best firearm you can find in the game, Izmatl’s Meteoric Apparatus is easy to get – if you can afford it. Costing a whopping 42,768 gold coins, you can find this gorgeous-looking gun on display in Kampeki’s shop in Thirdborn and purchase it from her.

This arquebus packs a huge punch, and opposite to Heavenstrike, it deals fire damage. A single burst of fire from this gun can spread to other enemies in the vicinity, even possessing the capability to knock them back due to its sheer force. You can upgrade this gun’s effects to either mete out moderate or high fire damage to opponents on the enchanting table, with its ability to deal significant damage a cherry on top of the proverbial cake.
