Despite boasting a gorgeous recreation of Hong Kong Island and having some excellent heritage earned from past games in the series, there’s no escaping the fact that things have been challenging for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. The open-world, MMO-style racing game has been plagued with issues and has some concerningly low player counts. However, with Season 3, it’s got a chance at winning players back. It’s switched up some of its previously announced content plans for this season in order to deliver some of the TDU community’s “most requested changes and additions,” which include more solo experiences, the return of Convoy missions, and new customization options, alongside the standard slate of a new Solar Pass and cars.
Revealed during today’s Nacon Connect livestream, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Season 3 brings several new ways to play, even though it has decided to push back its Clan Wars feature. Fans of its predecessors will be pleased to see Convoy missions returning. These will require you to deliver flashy and powerful supercars long distances, sometimes against the clock, but your reward will shrink if you cut corners by taking the car off-road or cause any damage to the vehicle. The Season 3 trailer shows the beginning of one new Convoy mission involving the Koenigsegg Agera RS.
Clearly wanting to offer more single-player experiences, the racing game is also adding a new solo race mode that offers up better rewards the harder you make the AI. It also comes with a rapid restart feature should you find yourself falling behind your rivals. The new Navigation Mode feeds into the desire for more solo content too. This allows you to pick a destination on the map, set a custom route to it, and aim to beat the clock to get there.

Aside from game modes, the ability to add customized license plates to your vehicles will arrive in Season 3. This lets you pick from different text, color, and design options to make your vehicles feel a bit more unique.
As is customary with TDU Solar Crown seasons, three new cars are joining the roster too. Season 3 will introduce the Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta, Aston Martin Valour, and DeLorean DMC-12. A new Solar Pass full of rewards will arrive too.
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Season 3 begins on Wednesday, March 19.
