  • Meganium’s Mega Evolution retains key features while offering unique changes
  • Pokemon Legends: Z-A trailer sparks curiosity about Mega Evolutions

A Pokemon fan has given Meganium, the final evolution of Chikorita, its own Mega Evolution in an impressive piece of fan art. The Pokemon fan creation has gained praise from the community, and highlights the expectations and excitement for the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A game.

The Pokemon Presents event late in February revealed more information about Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the upcoming Nintendo Switch title. Pokemon fans are waiting to learn more about their upcoming return to Lumiose City and all that it has in store for them, but one important detail that the latest trailer revealed was which starter Pokemon players would be able to choose from in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Since Pokemon Legends: Z-A is bringing back Mega Evolutions, its starter Pokemon are all but guaranteed to receive them, and fans are already imagining what they could look like.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Can’t Have The Same Least Favorite Children as Past Games

Pokemon Legends: Z-A suddenly finds itself in a weird spot due to its latest trailer not showing some key Pokemon.

On Reddit, user Imozartt87 has shared their imagined concept for Mega Meganium, giving a Mega Evolution to the grass starter of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Their fan art is impressive, maintaining the most recognizable characteristics of Meganium while still providing enough of a change to make an interesting new form. Mega Meganium’s head tendrils have grown dramatically, while the petals around its neck have opened further, with little buds appearing on the Pokemon’s tail. The Pokemon’s neck seems to be longer, and its color has changed, becoming primarily a pale yellow with a spiral, vine-like green highlight visible on its body.

Mega Meganium Excites Pokemon Fans

Those responding to the artist’s post have been entirely positive about it, referring to the Mega Meganium design as elegant and awesome. With months remaining until Pokemon Legends: Z-A releases, fans are eager to see what the official Mega Meganium will look like. The Mega Evolutions for Emboar and Feraligatr, the thus-far current forms for fellow starters Tepig and Totodile, have also spurred curiosity in the community.

While Pokemon fans can look to older designs to get a general idea of how Pokemon Mega Evolutions tend to change the look of those that undergo them, there’s nothing quite like seeing a talented artist share their depiction of what the Pokemon could turn into. Some have recently voiced trepidation about sharing too many fan designs, as The Pokemon Company has reportedly scrapped Pokemon in the past due to similarities discovered between an official upcoming design and prior fan work. With an endless number of fans and their artworks, though, some similarities may be unavoidable.
