Pokemon GO allows players to be able to catch Pokemon while on the go. But this isn’t just limited to basic Pokemon. Players can catch Shiny Pokemon, and even Legendary Pokemon while going about their everyday life. If players wanted, after catching these Pokemon, they could be transferred to Pokemon Home to then be transferred over to a Nintendo Switch game.

How to Get Kubfu (& Can Kubfu Be Shiny?)
Pokemon GO, at the time of writing, only has two ways for players to obtain Kubfu in a free and legal way. There are two different research tasks that players will need to complete, and for both, they can be rewarded with a Kubfu. Below are both things that players can do to get the Pokemon.
- Might and Mastery Special Research (Completing Part 1)
- Fuzzy Fighter Special Research (Completing Part 5)
The Might and Mastery Special Research quests were officially unlocked for players on March 5. Players will be able to begin these research tasks at any given time, and they will not expire, so players don’t need to rush to get the Pokemon. Players can read the research task requirements in this article.
Players need to start the Research tasks by Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 9:59 a.m. local time, to be able to redeem the Kubfu. The research tasks will not expire past that date.
There are a few other ways that players can encounter Kubfu, which include the following:
- Players encounter Kubfu during the Power Potential Event, which is available from March 5 to March 10, 2025. It can be encountered through Max Battles as well as raid battles during the event only.
- In the Research Tasks listed above, players have the opportunity to get two Kubfu within Pokemon GO.
- Players can also purchase a Kubfu by buying the “Fuzzy Fighter” Special Research which is 8 dollars. This will allow players to get another Kubfu as well as some more rewards as well.
This is all the different ways that players can get Kubfu within Pokemon GO at the time of writing. As of right now, the evolutions of Kubfu are locked within the game, including the Shiny version as well. Players can only get the original Kubfu as of right now.
