Hard to Bear Walkthrough (VIP Bot)

Hard to Bear is the fourth Astro Bot DLC stage in the Vicious Void galaxy and the eleventh overall. As its name suggests, the stage is built around Astro’s bear power-up and thus sees players clapping two cymbals together to interact with the environment around them through sound.

Every Stage in Astro Bot (All Planets List)

Every stage in Astro Bot provides its own challenges, forcing players to think outside the box or make use of unique power-ups.

Thankfully, it’s a little more forgiving than some of the other Vicious Void stages, both when it comes to timings and the tightness of its platforming. Granted, there are still plenty of ways for Astro Bot players to bite the bullet, but with a little bit of practice and a good strategy, completing Hard to Bear is not too difficult.

How to Complete Hard to Bear

As long as players are moving at a brisk pace, they should have no trouble navigating the first three platforms. In fact, they won’t even need to touch the third one, as it’s possible to hover from the green platform straight to the gray pillar. They’ll need to clap their cymbals before they land, though, in order to kill the spinning enemy.

After sliding down the nearby rope, players will need to clap their cymbals to defeat another spinner and then use the blue bounce pad to get onto the floating orange platforms up above. It’s best to just skip the platforms with the electric enemy on them, going from the first set of platforms to the third set and then on to the green spinning nuts.

Rather than jumping over to the platform with the pumpkin enemy on it, players should instead head straight for the blue bouncepad to their right. To reach it, they’ll just need to throw in a mid-air punch after using up all of Astro’s hoverpack. Players can then clap after bouncing on the bounce pad to get the green platform to stick out and then again to reach the bounce pad on top of the pink block.

The next section sees players slide down a slope and grab onto a rope. After jumping onto the rope, they should swing as far as they can and then jump and hover, being sure to clap as they approach the spinner enemy to make a platform appear. Clapping again while above the spinner will destroy it and make some more platforms show up, and they can use these to reach the final section of the stage.

If players don’t move quickly after destroying the spinner here they may get tagged by a few of the exploding enemies, in which case, they should perform a spinning punch before moving on.

Here, players will need to head anti-clockwise around the central pillar to reach a blue bounce pad, clapping the cymbals whenever a colored block gets in their way. They’ll then want to get on top of one of the colored blocks and jump and hover around to their left to reach another bounce pad. This will propel them up to yet another bounce pad and the finishing platform, although they’ll need to clap their cymbals one last time to flip the platform over.

Hard to Bear Cameo Bot

Unlike all of the stages from the first batch of Astro Bot DLC, players won’t need to complete Hard to Bear in a specific time to rescue its Cameo Bot. As such, just reaching the finishing platform will unlock the Rebellious Knight VIP Bot, which is based on Sir Galahad from The Order: 1886. If players head to the Gatcha Lab after rescuing the Rebellious Knight, they’ll also be able to get his Energy Zapper item, which is perfect for killing vamps and werewolves.
