This article contains spoilers for One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.
Summary
- Elbaf’s weakness is fire and lightning, with Enel potentially returning to strike the island.
- Ancient Mural in Elbaf hints at Treasure Tree Adam being struck by lightning, foreshadowing destruction.
- Enel’s power boost could make him a key player in causing damage to Elbaf in One Piece’s Final Saga.
Ever since Enel was defeated by Luffy, fans have been anxiously awaiting the return of the One Piece villain. Although most other villains have been frequently shown throughout the series, complete with their own post-defeat storylines, Enel has been suspiciously absent, outside of a short cover story. However, most fans are still holding onto hope that Enel will return in One Piece’s Final Saga, creating countless fan theories as to why Enel might leave his new home on the moon to come back to the story.
Although the details hinting at Enel’s return have been limited so far, there have been a few important elements in Elbaf that may hint that the villain, or at least his Devil Fruit, isn’t finished. Between the Ancient Mural of Elbaf and Ripley revealing the weakness of the Treasure Tree Adam, Enel may play a pivotal role in the final battles of the Elbaf Arc, and potentially, the final war of One Piece. Although this may seem like a small detail, the weakness of Elbaf may foreshadow Enel’s return in One Piece.

Ripley Shares Elbaf’s Weakness To Lightning And Fire
The Treasure Tree Adam Easily Catches On Fire
During the Elbaf Arc in One Piece, Franky, the shipwright of the Straw Hats, meets with the giant, Ripley, and goes on a tour of the Treasure Tree Adam. While exploring the tree that supplied the lumber to create One Piece’s Thousand Sunny, Franky discovers an Ancient Mural from the Void Century, potentially depicting an ancient battle between Joy Boy and Imu. While there are many elements in this mural, one large detail shows a large tree, similar to the Treasure Tree Adam of Elbaf, being struck by a large lightning bolt.
You might say that the vulnerabilities of Elbaf are fire and lightning, in fact! – Ripley
Soon after, in the most recent Chapter 1141, Ripley shares the story of the town of Haugen in One Piece. Since the branches of the tree of Elbaf are dry and old, they burn fairly easily. Since the branch that holds the town of Haugen was struck by lightning, it caught fire very easily and needed to be cut off in order to preserve the rest of the tree, ultimately destroying the town. Due to this, Ripley states that Elbaf’s weakness is lightning and fire.
Enel Could Severly Damage The Island Of Elbaf
The Ancient Mural Depicts The Treasure Tree Adam Being Struck By Lightning
- Elbaf Is Going To Be Struck By Lightning
- Enel Could Provide The Lightning To Destroy Elbaf
Firstly, while the Ancient Mural is a depiction of what happened in One Piece’s history and past, and isn’t a prediction of what will happen in the future, many fans believe One Piece’s Final Saga will echo elements of what is depicted on the mural. This includes a large tree, potentially the Treasure Tree Adam, being struck by a large lightning bolt, dooming the island. Paired with the new information about Elbaf’s weaknesses, Elbaf being destroyed by a large lightning bolt seems far more possible than before.

Although Imu seems to be the ancient big bad that the heroes must defeat, there’s a possibility that the final villain will be Blackbeard!
Due to this, many fans have wondered how Elbaf will be struck by a lightning bolt of a large enough magnitude to destroy the entire island. As of now, it seems that only natural lightning bolts have struck One Piece’s Treasure Tree Adam. However, fans believe that Enel, with the power of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, will return to the story and potentially use his ability to severely damage the island of Elbaf.
Other Characters Like Loki And Big Mom Could Also Burn The Tree
Loki Talks About Destruction Frequently As Well
At the same time, there are other characters that could provide a large lightning bolt, including Big Mom or even Loki himself. Plus, as of now, it seems Enel is content to stay on the moon, staying outside of the affairs of those in the One Piece world. Additionally, the character would need a massive power boost in order to remain relevant in the current landscape of One Piece, potentially being easily defeated by Luffy if he still has the same strength.
I am the Sun God who brings the world to the end! – Loki
Still, it seems likely that Elbaf will be struck by a massive lightning bolt, heavily damaging the land of the giants in One Piece. Due to this, it seems likely that Enel may be one of the potential culprits for this crime if this theory does come to fruition. With a few upgrades to his strength, Elbaf’s weakness shows that now may be the best time for Enel to return to the story of One Piece.
