Despite reports of bountiful supply for the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, all the stock has now disappeared, and a quick search on Ebay will show you where a fair bit of it ended up. Not content with exploiting buyers of Nvidia GeForce RTX 5000 GPUs, scalpers have now also turned to the new AMD GPUs, demanding prices of well over $1,000 for the new $599 GPU.
It’s no surprise that demand is incredibly high for these new AMD GPUs. As we found in our Radeon RX 9070 XT review, AMD has a killer graphics card on its hands, with fantastic gaming performance for a very reasonable price. The problem is that this price is now all but nominal, with new Ebay listings charging as much as $1,499.99 for an Asus Prime 9070 XT card.
That’s a disappointment, as 9070 XT supply was looking good before the release, with photos of huge stacks of graphics card boxes in warehouses, and stories about healthy supply, compared to the Nvidia RTX 5000 cards. But with RTX 5070 stock being miniscule, thousands of gamers are now clearly hungry to scoop up an AMD GPU for their next upgrade, and scalpers are keen to take advantage of the situation.
While the 9070 XT price starts at an MSRP of $599, several of the graphics cards we saw immediately after launch were going for considerably higher prices of at least $700, but even that’s a long way from the $1,000+ prices we’re now seeing on Ebay. These prices are even loftier than the MSRP of the RTX 5080, and while the 9070 XT is a decent GPU, it’s absolutely not worth over $1,000.
If you’re eager to get your hands on a new GPU upgrade, we advise steering clear of the scalpers on Ebay, and instead keeping an eye out for new 9070 XT stock at retailers, especially if you can sign up for a waiting list.

We’re also hoping that the current buying hysteria will subside a few months down the line, when you’ll hopefully be able to grab a graphics card for a much more reasonable price, without having to compete with a scalper bot army.
