- Koby’s journey post-Marineford involves conflicts with Blackbeard and involvement in SWORD.
- In the Final Saga, Koby was rescued by Garp, showcased powerful attacks, and resolved his dream.
Being one of the earliest characters in One Piece, Koby has had an interesting story throughout the series. Going from an incompetent wimp to the future Hero of the Navy, Koby has had some of the best growth out of any character in the series, rivaling that of Luffy himself. For this reason, most One Piece fans are heavily invested in Koby’s journey throughout One Piece, patiently waiting until Luffy and Koby reunite after achieving their dreams.
Although the gap between Koby and Luffy in One Piece is still fairly large during Marineford, since then, Koby’s progress has seemed to be growing at an exponential rate. However, as many fans know, Koby has run into some big trouble, leading to some major events in the Final Saga of One Piece. So far, Koby’s journey after Marineford in One Piece has been filled with enough action to potentially rival the adventures of the Straw Hat Captain, Luffy, himself.

Koby Moved Through The Navy Ranks After One Piece’s Marineford
He Becomes A Hero In The Navy Like His Mentor
After the events of Marineford, Koby had an interesting journey in the timeskip era of One Piece. Mainly, Koby was a part of the Rocky Port Incident, a conflict that involved Blackbeard, Law, and of course, Koby. This incident occurred after Law, who was searching for a One Piece Poneglyph on Hachinosu, accidentally commandeered a passenger ship full of nobles, which he would bring to Hachinosu, causing a major conflict between the pirates stationed there. Koby, who prioritized protecting the citizens in this situation, was then made to be a hero of the Navy.

During the Reverie Arc, although Koby didn’t play a massive role, he did help protect the Riku family of Dressrosa from a torpedo that would destroy their ship. During this arc, Koby simply connected with the Riku family, who considered him a hero. However, mainly, the family and Koby discussed news about Luffy, learning of his adventures during the Whole Cake Island Arc.

From here, Koby was involved in another important incident that took place during the Wano Arc of One Piece. After the abolition of the Warlords of the Sea, Koby went on a mission to apprehend Boa Hancock. However, at the same time the Navy went to apprehend Hancock, Blackbeard also invaded One Piece’s island of Amazon Lily, causing an all-out war between the three groups. After Blackbeard got the upper hand over Hancock, Koby attempted to negotiate with Blackbeard in order to protect the Marines who were already petrified. After the arrival of Silvers Rayleigh ended the conflict, Koby sacrificed himself as a bargaining chip when Blackbeard attempted to abduct a ship full of Navy soldiers.

At the same time, Koby contacted the Worst Generation Pirate, X Drake, revealing the existence of the organization known as SWORD; a group of unofficial Marines that still operate for the good of the Navy. However, because of this, Koby is no longer an official part of the Navy. Still, he has been operating in the interest of the Navy, just with fewer restrictions.

Garp Sacrificed Himself To Save The Future Of The Marines
Finally, during the Final Saga of One Piece, Koby, who was now a prisoner of Blackbeard, was rescued by Garp, who led a team consisting of SWORD members and Tashigi. Here, Koby helped fight against the Blackbeard Pirates, showing off his Honesty Impact, an incredibly powerful attack, mimicking Garp’s attack, Galaxy Impact. Although Garp was ultimately captured, Koby himself was allowed to go free. After this, Koby was shown listening to Vegapunk’s broadcast during the Egghead Arc, where he resolved his dream of needing to stop Luffy from finding the One Piece.

Overall, Koby’s most recent appearance in the story shows just how important the Navy soldier will be in One Piece. Although Koby’s time has been limited in the post-timeskip era of One Piece, so far, almost every appearance has been a part of some of the most impactful moments in the recent era of the series. Hopefully, the next time Koby makes an appearance, he will be one step closer to facing off against his rival Luffy, in the Final Saga of One Piece.
