While the recent announcement of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 has caused extreme excitement among the game’s fan base, some have begun to worry that wording from a PlayStation Blog Post has indicated that the new title won’t have the fourth game’s career mode.

Could Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Be Set To Exclude Fourth Game’s Story Mode?

Under the Classic and new parks, New Game+ segment of the PlayStation Blog Post, it reads: “Skate the original parks from THPS3 and THPS4 remade in 4K resolution and given streamlined goals in the two-minute format along with some new parks to expand your skating options. Tackle dozens of challenges to earn in-game cash and unlock new gear, including new skate decks, grip tapes, wheels for your board, and extra apparel for your skater.”

It excludes any mention of 4’s beloved career and simply states that players will skate in the “two-minute format”. This has players concerned, and on the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater subreddit, they have already started to sweat.

“I firmly believe that if you can’t do it right, don’t do it at all. 4’s design was great, and this is butchering it,” said Weddingfilmmaker. Atirma00 replied, “This. Gutting the THPS4 career mode is ridiculous and unacceptable. THPS4 is my favorite entry in the entire series. Thanks, Activision, for cutting corners with this series again.” This was a shared feeling in a thread that had received 253 comments discussing the potential exclusion.

A similar thread on NeoGAF also notched up dozens of comments, with multiple users saying that excluding 4’s career mode would be a dealbreaker.

There is some potential light at the end of the tunnel, though. The official listing for the game on digital storefronts states, “Everything you loved is back, but revamped with more skaters, new parks, gnarlier tricks, eardrum-shattering music, plus a whole lot more.” Here’s hoping that means the career mode.
