“A Mod That Makes You Punch Real Fast”

FaterPunch by Ironfarm does what it says in the tin. The mod increases the speed of the Feedbacker (a melee attack that can parry), Knuckleblaster (a stronger punch that can’t parry), and Whiplash (a grapple).

The increased speed of the Feedbacker, however, practically makes players invincible. With the mod, gamers are able to easily make it through a level using only their fists. Not just because of the attack speed but also the ease at which a player can parry. The maneuver becomes easier to pull off and once the player does, it seems to supercharge the projectiles being flung back – melting enemies and bosses alike.

A feature of the Marksman Revolver, the first weapon players find, is that V1 can throw a coin in the air while using it. If the coin is shot, it will ricochet to the nearest enemy’s weak spot, if they have one, dealing a high amount of damage. JayDev’s OVERKILL turns ULTRAKILL‘s Cyber Grind game mode, a wave-based horde mode, into a rogue-like. The mod introduces an XP system that, once they accumulate enough points through Style, will reward players with various buffs to their weapons or abilities. Some of these abilities shift the game’s mechanics drastically, with one turning it into a rhythm shooter similar to titles like Metal: Hellsinger.

Players looking for a fresh experience should definitely try OVERKILL for the various gameplay styles it encourages over multiple runs.

JayDev notes on OVERKILL’s mod page that it should be compatible with the campaign, although it may “explode.”

BossRush by Hydraxous adds a whole new game mode to ULTRAKILL wherein players can test their abilities by fighting every boss one after the other. ULTRAKILL‘s bosses can be challenging enough on their own, so facing all of them in succession will keep the average player occupied for some time.

For those who have mastered ULTRAKILL‘s mechanics and learned how to pull off some of the insane maneuvers the game lets you do, BossRush can still provide a worthy challenge. Once players defeat every boss, the gauntlet begins anew with increased Radiance – a modifier that makes the game harder. Not only that, the mod features a hardcore mode that will set players back to the very beginning of the ladder.

Hydraxous’ UltraFunGuns adds an arsenal of weapons to the game that is both overpowered and wacky in design. Ranging from bricks you throw at enemies to a finger gun, UltraFunGuns doesn’t take itself too seriously, with Hydraxous themselves stating on its mod page that they haven’t been balanced.

Game-breaking weapons are still usually a recipe for a good time, however, so players looking for something else to do while they wait for Layer 8 to drop should definitely mess around with UltraFunGuns. The mod also includes a few secret weapons for players to unlock, giving players a new objective to work towards.

The backbone of any good boomer-shooter is its level design and ULTRAKILL is no different. Part of what makes the game so memorable are levels like 4-4, where the player slides down the face of a pyramid while fighting V2, or 3-1, a level constructed entirely from bone and flesh.

AngryLevelLoader by EternalsTeam expands on ULTRAKILL‘s vanilla levels by allowing players to play a variety of custom ones. One of the projects playable through this mod is Project Purgatorio, which adds an entirely new campaign developed by multiple modders. Players who can’t wait any longer for Fraud need to check out some of the talent on display in the community’s custom levels.

The Power Of An Angel

Masquerade Divinity by Maranara allows players to play as their favorite crybaby angel, Gabriel. During 6-2, the level where V1 confronts Gabriel for the second time, players will be able to find a gate that lead to the start of the mod.

From there, players will run through ULTRAKILL‘s levels as Gabriel. Instead of V1’s armory of weapons, players will be given access to the angel’s sword or crossbow. Both of which, like V1’s guns, come with their own variants and movement abilities. If the idea of cosplaying Gabriel isn’t enough on its own, the changes to gameplay provide players running through the game for the millionth time enough variety to keep it fresh.

On the mod’s page, Maranara notes that the mod is best played standalone as it hasn’t been properly tested with other mods.

Besides allowing friends to join a player’s game, the mod also includes a list of features tailored to the co-op experience. Including emote wheels, player indicators on the map, sprays, and more. Although these are commonplace for co-op games, their presence in a fan mod is a pleasant surprise.
