Pokemon Fan Creates Amazing Doduo Nature Documentary

A creative Pokemon fan has made an impressive documentary depicting Doduo’s life in the wild. The Pokemon community made many positive comments about the video, praising the quality of the animation and expressing how they would like to see an official release in the same style.

Doduo is one of the original 151 Pokemon with an interesting design. It is characterized by having two heads that work independently, despite sharing a single body. As such, Doduo can, for example, have one head sleeping or eating while the other keeps an eye on its surroundings. Although it is a Normal/Flying-type, Doduo has a poor ability to fly, which it makes up for by being an excellent runner capable of reaching speeds of over 60 mph, according to the Pokedex.

In a new video on their channel, YouTuber EnlargedKai has made an animated documentary showing the Doduo’s life in the wild. With impressive animation, they show a group of Doduo crossing a large desert, until one gets lost. Wandering alone, the lost Doduo encounters a group of Cacnea who run away, while two Sandile watch. The Sandile were hiding in the desert sands when one of them decided to hunt down the Doduo. However, the Gen 5 Pokemon is surprised when the Normal/Flying-type starts spinning both heads, flying to a safe spot while Sandile falls to the sand.

This isn’t the first time EnlargedKai has gone viral by publishing a video, having previously made an adorable documentary focused on Spheal. Doduo’s video, like the previous animation, generated several approving reactions from fans, with one commenter praising how the appearance of other Pokemon gives the feeling of an ecosystem happening off-screen. Others were impressed by the YouTuber’s attention to detail in including a shiny Doduo in the video. Most of the comments noted in a humorous tone that the Pokemon used the heads to fly like a helicopter, which took many by surprise.

As one of the veteran pocket monsters, Doduo is in the Pokedex of most games in the franchise, except for Pokemon Sun and Moon, Ultra Sun and Moon, Pokemon Sword and Shield, and Legends: Arceus. Its most recent appearance is in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which happened after the release of the Indigo Disk DLC. With the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A scheduled for later this year, time will tell whether Doduo will appear in another game in the franchise.
