Nintendo is giving gamers another chance to try out the Nintendo Switch Online service for free for a limited time. The new trial is being offered as part of Nintendo‘s celebrations in preparation for Mario Day.

March 10 is considered to be Mario Day, given the way the date looks when abbreviated, becoming “Mar10.” Like other major Nintendo annual celebrations, the company usually gives a nod to the series by revealing new developments, adding older Mario titles to its online catalog, or through free trials, like this one.

Nintendo has now announced that users without a Nintendo Switch Online subscription can enjoy a 14-day free trial in honor of Mario Day. Those who want to sign up will need to go to the official Nintendo free trial website and redeem the offer. A code will then be given to the user, who can enter it on their Nintendo Switch to officially start the trial period. The code can be claimed through March 17 at 11:00 PM Pacific Time, and the trial must be started no later than March 31 at 11:59 PM.

What to Do With a Free Nintendo Switch Online Membership

Also in honor of Mario Day, Nintendo will be hosting a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe community challenge, beginning on March 7. Those with active subscriptions or an active free trial and a copy of the game will be able to participate, with a promised 310 Platinum Points if the community goal of a million laps is achieved. Those who lack a paid subscription will want to consider using their free trial during this time period to join the challenge.

Outside of Mario Kart, the Nintendo Switch Online subscription gives players the opportunity to access the Nintendo Switch’s catalog of classic titles. Online play in games like Splatoon 3 is also available through an active subscription or trial. The perks extend outside of the Nintendo Switch console itself, as well, as fans can download the Nintendo Music app and listen to a number of soundtracks from iconic games in the Nintendo library. The most recent addition to Nintendo Music is the soundtrack for The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Those who are less interested in the offerings of Nintendo Switch Online may still be able to find something exciting. Nintendo is putting multiple Mario games on sale, so it’s a good time to pick up some titles that one may have missed or been waiting for a discount on.
