Latest Diablo 4 Event Is Having Some Problems

On March 4, Diablo 4 shocked Xbox players by delaying the anticipated March of the Goblins update for the platform. Many eager players expecting the launch were caught off guard when no update prompt appeared. Some turned to social media to check if others faced the same issue, only to discover that players on other platforms had already begun hunting Diablo 4‘s new Goblins.

Now, the game’s community is no stranger to unexpected delays. A notable example is Diablo 4′s decision to delay Season 8, which players managed to come to terms with. However, past delays affected all players equally—not just a specific group. Naturally, when Xbox players discovered that the March of the Goblins update was delayed only on their platform, frustration followed. Some even criticized Blizzard for releasing the update on other platforms, arguing that it undermined its potential impact on Xbox players.

Upon the launch of the returning March of the Goblins event, Xbox players reported seeing the Goblin Statue in central Kyovashad, but no event was active on their server. Around the same time, Rich Bantegui, senior community manager for Diablo, posted a brief note on the game’s official forum acknowledging the issue. His post read, “Patch 2.1.3 & March of the Goblins is currently delayed [on Xbox], and we expect an update to be available later today.” Fortunately, the issue was quickly resolved, and in a follow-up post three hours later, Bantegui assured Xbox players that they could now download the update like all other players.

Xbox Players Had to Wait in Line for Diablo 4’s March Update

The cause of the issue remains unclear. However, some players speculate that Xbox’s strict and slow patch review policies may be to blame. Xbox is known for taking longer than other platforms to approve new game builds, leading some fans to hold it responsible for the delay in Diablo 4′s update. A similar issue occurred previously when ConcernedApe faced delays with the Stardew Valley 1.6 update on Game Pass, which some are citing as an example of Xbox’s poor management.

While delays from developers are always frustrating, Diablo 4′s Xbox fans seem satisfied with Blizzard’s quick response. If the issue had taken longer to resolve, players might have missed out on valuable loot. For those unfamiliar, Goblins have a higher chance of appearing during the March of the Goblins event, and although they will remain in the game afterward, their appearances will be rarer. A longer delay would have meant fewer Goblin encounters, potentially hindering progression. However, it’s reasonable to assume that such an issue would lead the devs to extend the event for Xbox players to make up for the setback. Thankfully, none of these concerns remain, and the entire community can now hunt down Diablo 4′s new and revamped Treasure Goblins.
