Destiny 2: The Final Shape – All Prismatic Fragment Locations
Unlock every Fragment for Prismatic with this in-depth guide.
Through Prismatic, Guardians can mix and match abilities from any subclass to create the ultimate build. Needless to say, Prismatic is the ultimate buildcrafting subclass. But unlocking this subclass and understanding how it works can prove tricky. In this guide, we will cover what Prismatic is, how to unlock it, and give an in-depth breakdown of every single ability, Aspect, and Fragment available.
Updated March 5, 2025, by Charles Burgar: Prismatic saw some small changes due to some sandbox adjustments to Arc and Stasis in recent seasons. We’ve updated this guide to include all information pertaining to Bolt Charge and recent updates to Frost Armor.
What Is Prismatic?
Prismatic is Destiny 2’s sixth subclass that acts as an amalgamation of all previous subclasses. With Prismatic, you can take elements from every other subclass and merge them into one cohesive build. It is the closest thing Destiny 2 has to multiclassing. As such, the barrier to entry is far greater for Prismatic than any other subclass, but the power ceiling is significantly higher.
This subclass is intended for advanced buildcrafters. Newer players might be better off following a build guide or using a different subclass entirely.
There are drawbacks to Prismatic, however. The most notable restriction is what’s not included. One Aspect, Super, and core ability are taken from each subclass. For example, Prismatic Warlocks use Song of Flame as their Solar Super of choice, not Well of Radiance
or Daybreak
. This keeps the subclass somewhat in check and prevents Prismatic from eclipsing every single build in the game.
To help create synergies, Prismatic has a wide selection of unique Fragments to choose from, and most Aspects were altered to remove any element-specific restrictions. Bleak Watcher
turrets can be made with any grenade, Stylish Executioner
can be triggered off any debuff, et cetera.
Create a build with equal access to Light and Dark, and you’ll be rewarded with unique synergies and the ability to Transcend, a sort of mini-Super that drastically lowers your ability cooldowns.
How To Unlock Prismatic
You must own The Final Shape expansion to use Prismatic.
Prismatic is unlocked in the Final Shape campaign and post-campaign offerings. The subclass itself is unlocked partway through the “Transmigration” campaign mission. A basic build is provided for you immediately, but if you want to heavily customize Prismatic, you’ll need to complete certain activities after the campaign.
Prismatic Aspects and abilities are unlocked through the “Found in the Dark” and “Found in the Light” post-campaign quests. Speak with your Ghost upon finishing the campaign and progress their starter quest to unlock both quest chains. You’ll need to complete both quests for each of your characters.
Prismatic Fragments are unlocked through exploration and hidden challenges. The campaign will give you a few Fragments by default, but you’ll need to find the rest. You can find every unlock condition in our Prismatic Fragment locations guide. Fortunately, Prismatic Fragments are account-bound. Once you find a Fragment, it’s unlocked for all three of your characters.
Prismatic Keywords Explained
Prismatic shares the same keywords as all previous subclasses—Arc, Solar, Void, Stasis, and Strand. We will list the general keyword names below, but if you’d like to learn more about each keyword, consult our subclass 3.0 guides:

Transcendence Explained
Transcendence is effectively a second, weaker Super that Prismatic classes gain access to. By dealing Light and Dark damage, you build up a Transcendence meter under your Super bar. When both the Light and Dark meters are full, you can enter Transcendence.
While you are in Transcendence, your abilities recharge significantly faster, you gain 20% damage resistance, deal 5% more damage with all weapons, and gain a new grenade type. This grenade varies depending on your class:
- Hunter: Gain a Solar/Stasis variant of a Spike Grenade.
- Titan: Gain a Shackle Grenade that also inflicts Jolt.
- Warlock: Gain a Vortex/Duskfield hybrid grenade.
Transcendence will slowly decay once it’s activated, but you can extend Transcendence by defeating enemies. There are diminishing returns here, but you can remain in this state for 30 seconds or more with ease. Once Transcendence ends, both your Light and Dark gauges will be empty and must be refilled. Dealing Light damage (Arc, Solar, and Void) fills the left gauge, while Dark damage (Stasis and Strand) fills the right.
Kinetic weapons fill your Light and Dark meters simultaneously.
Exotic Class Items Explained
All Prismatic classes have access to a unique Exotic class item, which can be obtained upon completing the “Dual Destiny” mission. The Exotic class item features two random perks from other Exotics, including perks that aren’t on your native class. For example, the Hunter’s Exotic class item, Relativism, can drop with Ophidian Aspect
and Synthoceps
, two Exotics tied to other classes.
Each class item has 64 unique combinations, made up of 16 perk options. To ensure that class items aren’t completely broken, each Exotic perk has been reworked or slightly nerfed compared to the standard version. Osmiomancy Gloves
now work with any grenade, for instance, but no longer grant a second grenade charge.
All potential perk combinations can be found below. As for which rolls are worth chasing, check out our guide on Exotic class item roll recommendations.
You cannot wear an Exotic armor piece and an Exotic class item at the same time.
Relativism – Hunter Exotic Cloak
Stoicism – Titan Exotic Mark
Solipsism – Warlock Exotic Bond

Prismatic Fragments
Every Prismatic subclass has access to 21 Fragments, most of which are augments of some fan-favorite Fragments seen on other subclasses. Unlike those subclasses, Prismatic’s Fragments are unlocked through Pale Heart exploration and secret challenges. You can find their locations in our Prismatic Fragment locations guide. All 21 Fragment properties can be found below.
Facet Of Grace
Defeating targets with Kinetic weapons grants you bonus Transcendence energy. Defeating targets with your Super grants you and nearby allies bonus Transcendence energy. -10 Resilience.
Kinetic weapon kills grant roughly 2% Transcendence energy for both Light and Dark meters. This bonus seems static and doesn’t scale with the weapon type used. Landing kills with your Super will also grant an extra 2% Transcendence energy to yourself and all allies within roughly 12 meters. This Fragment has no cooldown and works in PvP, albeit with lower effectiveness.
Facet Of Sacrifice
While you have an Arc, Solar, or Void buff, your ability final blows grants bonus Transcendence energy. +10 Discipline.
Facet of Sacrifice grants a flat 2% Darkness Transcendence energy for every ability kill while affected by a Light subclass buff. This includes effects like Amplified, Radiant, Restoration, and Void Overshield. Darkness energy gained this way is static and does not scale with the ability’s damage output or how many buffs you’re affected by.
Facet Of Devotion
Defeating targets afflicted with a Stasis or Strand debuff grants bonus Light Transcendence energy. +10 Strength.
Facet of Devotion is similar to Facet of Sacrifice but has better scaling. Enemies debuffed with Darkness will grant Light Transcendence energy when defeated. Rank and file mobs give roughly 2% energy when slain, while tougher foes grant slightly more energy. Additionally, weapon and ability kills count. So long as the enemy is debuffed with a Darkness keyword, this Fragment will trigger.
Facet Of Generosity
Defeating targets while Transcendent creates Orbs of Power for your allies.
Facet of Generosity makes Transcendence generate Orbs of Power, much like how Supers work. While Transcendent, every kill will spawn an Orb of Power up to a maximum of six. Each orb grants roughly 0.8% Super energy, the same as a Siphon mod.
The Power Preservation mod does not increase how many orbs this Fragment can generate, but you can pair this with a roaming Super to spawn a copious number of orbs. You can activate Transcendence, cast your Super, then go on a killing spree to generate a dozen orbs in quick succession.
Facet Of Justice
While Transcendent, your ability final blows explode. +10 Intellect.
While you are Transcendent, all abilities will trigger an explosion on kill. Each explosion deals roughly as much damage as a Jolt shock, damaging all targets within a six-meter radius. The damage output is quite lackluster and doesn’t scale well in endgame content. Only use this Fragment if you have high uptime on Transcendence.
Facet Of Honor
Collecting an elemental pickup or destroying a Tangle grants Transcendence energy of the same type. +10 Strength.
Elemental pickups refer to Firesprites, Ionic Traces, Void Breaches, Stasis Shards, and Tangles. They each give a different amount of Transcendence energy, as shown below.
Pickup |
Light Transcendence |
Darkness Transcendence |
---|---|---|
Firesprite |

Ionic Trace |

Void Breach |

Stasis Shard |

Facet Of Hope
While you have an elemental buff, your class ability recharges more quickly.
While you’re affected by an elemental buff (such a Amplified or Woven Mail), your class ability recharges 60% faster. Facet of Hope previously had a bug where it didn’t apply while you were Amplified, but this was patched partway through Episode: Echoes. The regeneration bonus stacks multiplicatively with other regeneration scalars like Heart of Inmost Light.
Facet Of Courage
Your Arc, Solar, and Void abilities deal increased damage to targets afflicted with Darkness debuffs. +10 Discipline.
Enemies affected by a Darkness debuff, such as Slow or Sever, receive 10% more damage from all Light subclass abilities. Hunters can make great use of this Fragment by pairing it with Combination Blow and Winter’s Shroud. Throw on Synthoceps (via the Exotic class item) or Liar’s Handshake for some absurd melee DPS.
Facet Of Balance
Rapidly defeating targets with Light damage grants melee energy. Rapidly defeating targets with Dark damage grants grenade energy.
Facet of Balance has two effects baked into it. Triple kills with Light damage grant 10% melee energy. Darkness energy is similar. Triple kills with Dark damage grant 10% grenade energy. This effect doesn’t have a cooldown and can be used in PvP.
Facet Of Bravery
Defeating targets with grenades grants Volatile Rounds to your Void weapons. Defeating targets with powered melee final blows grants Unraveling Rounds to your Strand weapons.
Facet of Bravery merges Echo of Instability and Thread of Propagation into a single Fragment. Grenade kills grant ten seconds of Volatile Rounds, and melee kills grant ten seconds of Unraveling Rounds.
Volatile Rounds grant Void weapons explosive ammunition that causes targets to detonate when they take enough damage. Unraveling Rounds cause Strand weapons to infect targets with Unravel projectiles as they take damage. Consecutive damage will spawn more Unravel projectiles, spreading to nearby enemies.
Facet Of Awakening
Rapid elemental final blows and Super final blows generate an elemental pickup of the matching damage type. +10 Resilience
Landing a triple kill with a single damage type will spawn an elemental pickup of the same damage type. For example, a triple kill with Solar damage would spawn a Firesprite. This applies to every damage type, although each pickup has to adhere to that pickup’s cooldown timer. For example, you can’t spawn back-to-back Tangles with this Fragment—you’d have to wait 12 seconds to spawn another one.
Subclass pickups are as follows:
- Solar: Firesprite
- Arc: Ionic Trace
- Void: Void Breach
- Stasis: Stasis Shard
- Strand: Tangle
Facet Of Command
Freezing or suppressing a target reloads your equipped weapons and increases stability, aim assist, and airborne effectiveness. Defeating frozen or suppressed targets creates a Stasis Shard or Void Breach, respectively.
Freezing or Suppressing a target will grant Facet of Command for ten seconds, which grants +20 weapon stability, +20 aim assist, and +20 airborne effectiveness. This buff cannot be refreshed while active.
Additionally, whenever you gain Facet of Command, all of your weapons will reload from reserves. Since this buff can’t be refreshed, this autoloading property can only activate once every ten seconds.
Facet Of Dawn
Powered melee hits against targets make you Radiant. Powered melee final blows make both you and nearby allies Radiant. -10 Strength.
Powered melee hits grant Radiant for ten seconds, which is a 20% weapon damage buff. Subsequent melee hits will refresh the timer. Radiant does not stack with other empowering buffs like Weapons of Light, but it does stack with surge effects found on leg armor.
Unlike Ember of Torches, melee hits don’t grant Radiant to allies by default. You must Transcend to give Radiant to nearby allies.
Facet Of Protection
While surrounded by enemies, you are more resistant to incoming damage. While Transcendent, the effect is increased. +10 Strength
While three enemies are within eight meters, you gain 15% damage resistance. Despite the in-game description, this Fragment is not enhanced while Transcendent; it simply stacks with Transcendent’s intrinsic 20% DR, doing so multiplicatively.
Facet Of Blessing
Melee final blows start health regeneration. Powered melee final blows start health regeneration for you and nearby allies.
All melee kills, including uncharged melee and Glaives, will start HP regeneration upon landing a kill. This is absurdly powerful in PvP and is always worth using in that environment. It’s not a bad option in PvE either for melee-centric builds.
As an added bonus, this Fragment also heals nearby allies while you’re Transcendent.
Facet Of Purpose
Picking up an Orb of Power grants either Bolt Charge, Restoration, Frost Armor, Woven Mail, or Overshield based on the damage type of your equipped Super. -10 Recovery.
Facet of Purpose is the main survivability Fragment for Prismatic. Picking up an Orb of Power will give you a defensive keyword based on your equipped Super. For example, if you have a Strand Super equipped, you’ll gain Woven Mail upon grabbing an orb. The duration and overall strength of each keyword varies wildly with this Fragment.
Keyword |
Damage Resistance |
Duration |
---|---|---|
Bolt Charge Arc |
0% |
N/A |
Restoration Solar |
N/A Restores 35 HP per second |
7 Seconds |
Void Overshield Void |
70% (Overshield only) Grants 22.5 Overshield, caps at 45 |
5 Seconds |
Frost Armor Stasis |
6.25% per stack 31.25% at x5 stacks |
10 Seconds |
Woven Mail Strand |
45% |
5 Seconds |
For most builds, we suggest using Restoration or Frost Armor. Restoration grants passive, uninterruptible HP regeneration throughout its duration. Frost Armor grants an escalating DR buff with every stack. Each Orb of Power grants two stacks of Frost Armor, so you’ll get roughly 12% DR with every stack, capping out at 31.25% DR with five orbs.
Facet Of Mending
Grenade final blows Cure you. While Transcendence is active, this effect is stronger.
Grenade final blows grant x1 Cure, which is roughly 60 HP or a quarter of your health bar. If you’re Transcendent, you’ll gain x2 Cure instead, doubling the strength of the heal. This Fragment has no cooldown and works in PvP, albeit less effectively.
Facet Of Defiance
Finishers create a detonation that either Jolts, Scorches, Slows, Severs, or makes targets Volatile, based on the damage type of your equipped Super. +10 Recovery.
Performing a finisher on a target will debuff nearby enemies with a keyword matching your Super. This effect doesn’t have a cooldown, although the use of finishers is somewhat limited in PvE. Since you can’t use finishers on Guardians, this Fragment does nothing in PvP.
Facet Of Solitude
Rapid precision hits emit a Severing burst from the target. While Transcendent is active, the burst is larger.
Upon landing 20% of your magazine as precision hits on the same target, they will release a wave of severing energy. All enemies within six meters of the target will be Severed, reducing their damage output by 40% (15% in PvP). This effect doesn’t have a cooldown.
If you’re using a Bow, you’ll need to land two precision hits instead.
This Fragment is incredibly powerful on Hunters, as it allows you to trigger Stylish Executioner just by landing headshots. A Hand Canno with a low magazine size, such as Igneous Hammer, can trigger Solitude just before you land the killing blow, proccing Stylish Executioner in the process.
Facet Of Ruin
Stasis Shatters have increased area and deal more damage. Solar Ignitions cover a wider area. +10 to the stat that governs your class ability.
Facet of Ruin merges Ember of Eruption and Whisper of Fissures into one Fragment. Stasis Shatters deal roughly 10% more damage and are 50% larger, affecting all sources of Stasis shatters. This includes Stasis crystals, frozen enemies, and the Headstone perk on weapons.
Solar Ignitions are 20% larger while this Fragment is equipped, increasing their blast radius to ten meters. This works with all sources of Ignitions, including Gunpowder Gamble and Incinerator Snap.
Facet Of Dominance
Your Void grenades Weaken, and Arc grenades Jolt targets. -10 Discipline.
All Void grenades will inflict a 15% Weaken for five seconds on the target. Arc grenades will inflict Jolt instead, triggering a chain lightning effect as the target takes sustained damage. This Fragment also affects Transcendence grenades where applicable.
