Fine Windward Aloe and Great Windward Aloe are Special Items in Monster Hunter Wilds that players can exchange for two types of Kunafa Cheese, ingredients that activate the Defender Meal Food Skill when added to a dish. For the uninitiated, that Food Skill occasionally decreases the damage that the Hunter takes, and players who are struggling to survive may want to pursue it. This guide is here to assist with that endeavor, and it will help players find the Windward Aloes that can be traded for Kunafa Cheese in Monster Hunter Wilds.
It is recommended that players have at least two levels of the Geologist skill when searching for Fine and Great Windward Aloes, as that skill level causes extra Special Items to occasionally be awarded when gathering. For full clarity, players can get the Geologist skill from Chainmail Armor, Geology Charms, and beyond.

Windward Succulents
Players who are looking for Fine Windward Aloe should fast travel to the Windward Plains, the first ecosystem in Monster Hunter Wilds. Upon reaching the Plains, players should open the local map, navigate to the Filter Icons feature in the bottom-left corner of the screen, and access the “Gathering” category. Players should then scroll through this category until they find the Windward Succulent entry, and they should select it and choose “Set Highlight.”
Players will now find that all the Windward Succulents on the map are marked with a blue dot, and they should hover over one of the marked Succulents and press the “Set Waypoint” input that is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Monster Hunter Wilds players should then use their Seikret’s Auto-move Mode, which is initiated by pressing up on a d-pad or tab on a keyboard, to automatically move towards the waypoint. Players can then interact with the Windward Succulent for a chance to receive a Fine Windward Aloe.
That said, players may only receive a regular Windward Aloe the first time that they harvest a Windward Succulent, as the “Fine” variant is a bit rare. Fortunately, there should be several Succulents on the map, giving players additional chances to harvest the Aloe of interest. As before, players can move to these additional Succulents with waypoints and the Seikret’s Auto-move Mode, making it quite easy to search for this Special Item.
After harvesting a Windward Succulent, players can hover over its icon on the map to see its respawn timer. While players who want to gather from the plants a second time can simply wait for that timer to lapse, they can also force the Succulents to immediately respawn by fast traveling to another map and then fast traveling back to the Plains.

Great Windward Aloe Emergences
Players who want to collect some Great Windward Aloe will need to harvest it from a Giant Windward Succulent, a plant that appears in the Windward Plains during a Great Windward Aloe Emergence. Players can get a sense of when such an event will take place by navigating to the “Forecast” tab within the Environment Overview menu, and here is how that is done:
- Open the Windward Plains’s local map.
- Press the “Environment Overview” input that is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
- Navigate to the “Forecast” tab.
- Scroll through the chart, looking for a Great Windward Aloe Emergence entry.
- Note the vertical lines that run through the chart. Those lines indicate 10-minute intervals, as noted at the top of the chart.
- Use the line that is closest to the left edge of the bar associated with the entry to determine approximately how long it will be until the Emergence begins.
As soon as a Great Windward Aloe Emergence begins, one Giant Windward Succulent will appear in the Windward Plains, and players can use the Filter Icons feature to locate it. This process is nearly identical to the one that is used to find Windward Succulents, and it is as follows:
- Open the Windward Plains’s local map.
- Navigate to the Filter Icons feature in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
- Access the “Gathering” category, and scroll down to the Giant Windward Succulent.
- Select the Giant Windward Succulent, and “Set Waypoint.”
- Use the Seikret’s Auto-move Mode to reach the plant.
