How to Get Dragonbone Relic in Monster Hunter Wilds

Dragonbone Relics are Equipment Materials in Monster Hunter Wilds that are used in the crafting and upgrading of various pieces of High Rank gear. This multitude of uses means that players are likely to find themselves in need of Dragonbone Relics at some point, though they may be confused about where to find them. This guide is here to alleviate that confusion, and it will help players get their hands on Dragonbone Relics in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Players can only obtain Dragonbone Relics upon reaching High Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds. While it is expected that the vast majority of readers will have already made it to High Rank, as there is no need to collect Dragonbone Relics prior to that point, players who have not should return to this guide after completing the game’s third chapter.

High Rank Bonepiles

Players can collect Dragonbone Relics from Bonepiles on High Rank maps. For full clarity, Bonepiles are gathering points that look like piles of bones, and they can be found in all of Monster Hunter Wilds‘ ecosystems. That said, while players are certainly free to target the Bonepiles in any ecosystem, there is one that seems to be best for farming Dragonbone Relics: the Windward Plains.

It is recommended that players equip gear that provides at least one level of the Geologist skill before setting out in search of Dragonbone Relics. For the uninitiated, this skill causes Bonepiles to award extra items, and it can be found on Chainmail Armor, Geology Charms, and beyond.

Indeed, Monster Hunter Wilds players suggest that they have had the most luck extracting Dragonbone Relics from the Bonepiles in the Windward Plains, and here is how to easily visit those gathering points:

  1. Fast travel to the Windward Plains via the World Map.
  2. Open the local map, and navigate to the Filter Icons feature in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
  3. Locate “Bonepile” within Filter Icons, either in the “Display All” category or the “Gathering” category.
  4. Select “Bonepile” and then “Set Highlight.” This will cause all the Bonepiles to be marked with a blue dot on the map.
  5. Return to the local map, hover over one of the marked Bonepiles, and “Set Waypoint.”
  6. Use the Seikret’s Auto-move Mode to travel directly to the waypoint. By default, Auto-move Mode is initiated by pressing up on a d-pad or tab on a keyboard.
  7. Upon arrival, interact with the Bonepile to gather its materials.
  8. Repeat Steps 5 through 7 to visit all the Windward Plains’s Bonepiles.

Dragonbone Relics are quite rare, and players should not be surprised if they do not obtain any during their first pass at the Windward Plains’s Bonepiles. Fortunately, players can force Bonepiles to respawn simply by fast traveling to another map and then fast traveling back to the Plains.

While players should have no trouble finding the Bonepiles in the Windward Plains with the help of the in-game Filter Icons feature, some players may still want a map that highlights the positions of those gathering points. Here is such a map, and players are sure to note that the Windward Plains Bonepiles are in Areas 1, 9, 10, and 16.
