Many of these side quests don’t directly tie into the main plot but allow you to explore different aspects of the world and its people. For instance, Johann Parler wants to safeguard the Church of Saint Barbara from disaster. To do this, he asks Henry to steal certain talismans and use them to forge a protective axe.
How To Start The Warding Off Evil Quest
You first need to complete Speak of the Devil main quest, then head to the Emperor Charles Tavern in Kuttenberg City and make your way to the second floor.
Here, you should find Johann Parler, and you can speak to him. After you do that, he will ask for your help in forging a protective axe that will help him protect the building.
Since you will be doing some stealing for Parler, we recommend that you do it during the night.
How To Forge The Protective Axe
How To Find The Nail From Rafter
Head to the building to the north where the A objective mark is, and you will come across a house that has some stairs outside leading to the upper floor. Take the stairs and then lockpick the door, but be careful as there might be someone inside.
Once inside the house, you will find a ladder. Take it, and to the left, there will be a table that has the 
Holy Nail
you need. Pick it up.
How To Find The Horseshoe Hanging Above The Door
Now, for the second item, you need to make your way to the west of the city toward the B objective, where the tailor is located.
Go through the arch entrance and then take the first door to the left side. After you get inside, there will be another entrance to the left side as well, and just above the door, you will be able to see the horseshoe;

How To Find The Coin From The Building Foundation
All the way to the east now, toward the C objective mark, this will lead you to the Hangman’s Halter Tavern. Go inside and then take the second door to the left side, which leads to the basement.
Here, to the room on the right side, you will be able to see a suspicious wall. Interact with it, and you will be able to get the 
Commemorative Coin
.
How To Forge The Protective Axe
With all three items that you just obtained, you will be able to forge the protective axe, and this can be done at any smithing table.
Go to the nearest one, select the Protective Axe recipe, and start the smithing process. After you’re done, you will get the axe and you’re ready to deliver it.
How To Complete The Warding Off Evil Quest
With the axe in hand, make your way back to Johann Parler at the Emperor Charles Tavern and speak with him. Hand over the axe to him, and he will be happy with this.
This will complete the Warding Off Evil quest, and you will receive Groschen as your reward.
