Jujutsu Kaisen left many questions unanswered, and with that, many characters were wasted.

However, for Megumi Fushiguro, this was largely seen as a negative. That said, Sukuna taking over Megumi’s body had its own positives as well, and that absolutely cannot be denied. Although they may not be as apparent as, say, killing your own sister and splitting your sensei in half, they most certainly do exist, and as an adult, it can be said that Megumi Fushiguro most certainly benefited from it in more ways than one.

How Sukuna Used Megumi’s Body In JJK

  • Sukuna Jumped From Yuji’s Body To Megumi’s
  • Sukuna Stayed In Megumi’s Body Right Up Until The End

Sukuna having taken over and used Megumi’s body came as a massive surprise to the fans, largely because it was absolutely out of nowhere. While fans did expect Sukuna to have something in store for Megumi Fushiguro, which was clear from the fact that he let him live, what exactly it was, wasn’t known until the switch happened. The basis for Sukuna taking over Megumi’s body was set long ago, when Yuji Itadori died. Sukuna offered him his life back, but only if he promised to let him take over for a minute when he said the words Enchain. Furthermore, any memory of Sukuna and Yuji making this deal would also be erased. Of course, Yuji agreed to it, and that’s when things started going downhill.

He’s resisting my influence. — Sukuna

In the Culling Game arc, after Sukuna said the words Enchain, he immediately took over Megumi’s body instead, and this is where fans couldn’t believe what they witnessed. For the first time since the beginning of the story, Yuji Itadori was free. At the same time, Megumi was now under Sukuna’s influence, and even though he did show restraint at first and could fight back at one point, he couldn’t do much after the bath that Sukuna took to suppress him. Things went from bad to worse when Sukuna consumed the remaining fingers and reached his true strength, ensuring that he was far above everyone else, except for the strongest, Satoru Gojo.

Thankfully, Gojo returned around the same time as Sukuna and fans knew that these two would go on to fight an absolutely incredible fight later down the line. In Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shinjuku Showdown Arc, Gojo finally clashed with Sukuna, and it was a phenomenal battle when both of the strongest went all out. That said, Megumi’s body being used to the absolute fullest by Sukuna is what’s interesting to see. Sukuna pushed Megumi’s powers to the absolute fullest and used them as well as he possibly could. On top of that, there is the fact that the opponent was someone as strong as Gojo Satoru, which meant that Sukuna had to push Megumi beyond all limits, something that ended up benefiting Megumi greatly.

If there is one thing that fans know Yuji took from Sukuna’s time in his body, it is the fact that he could fight much better. Everything that Sukuna did in Yuji’s body aided him greatly. Be it the usage of cursed energy, or even perform tasks such as Reverse Cursed Energy, Yuji’s body remembered how these techniques were utilized. Even hand-to-hand combat was something that Yuji saw an improvement in, and this is something that he admitted to himself. Due to muscle memory, Yuji was much better a fighter than he was before Sukuna took over. In other words, Yuji could copy Sukuna’s movements and his fighting style almost as if it were ingrained in his body.

Farewell, Gojo Satoru. I shall not forget you for as long as I live. — Sukuna

Just like how Yuji’s body remembered Sukuna’s movements and knew how he fought using it, Megumi’s body must’ve been the same. In fact, Sukuna made far better use of Megumi’s body than he did of Yuji’s, so in a way, Megumi should’ve had an even greater advantage. Sukuna had the body use powers like Reverse Cursed Technique to the absolute fullest, meaning Megumi must remember how to utilize it properly. More than that, Sukuna went on to use the power of the Ten Shadows Technique like never before in Megumi’s body. Utilizing every shikigami to the absolute fullest, and even using the power of fusion to create beasts such as Agito, Sukuna was on a completely different level when it comes to the usage of the Ten Shadows Technique.

Gojo’s limitless is hard to rival. This one ability in JJK does get close.

Without a doubt, everything that Sukuna did in Megumi’s body must’ve been picked up by him. For instance, after regaining control over his body, Megumi should most certainly be strong enough to use the powers of Agito, the Fusion Beast. Most of all, however, Megumi should now be able to use Mahoraga. Of course, to use Mahoraga, Megumi has to tame the beast first, but if Sukuna taming Mahoraga using Megumi’s body counts, then he doesn’t need to do anything at all. Mahoraga should be already in Megumi’s arsenal of weapons, meaning now, he is on a completely different level. Megumi’s body instinctively remembers how Sukuna moves, along with how he used each Shikigami. It remembers the power of Reverse Cursed Technique, and even the way Sukuna used hand-to-hand combat. It must even remember the powers of Domain Amplification, and the power to switch between it and cursed technique usage rapidly. All in all, while it would definitely have been better for Megumi if Sukuna never took over his body, the fact is that he most certainly benefited from it.

How Strong Would Adult Megumi Be?

One Of The Strongest Sorcerers Alive

If adult Megumi gained access to all of his powers, including an even stronger version of Mahoraga, multiple fusion beasts, reverse cursed technique, Domain Amplification, and possibly even some other anti-domain techniques, then he’d be almost unstoppable. That, when taken into consideration with the fact that Megumi could potentially have completely Chimera Shadow Garden by adulthood makes him a sorcerer rivaling even Yuji and Yuta, and possibly one even stronger, and this goes without saying. The future is most certainly very bright for Megumi Fushiguro, despite all the hardships he endured.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s last chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
