Hogwarts Legacy Players Have a Complaint About the Spiders

Summary

  • Some Hogwarts Legacy players feel there are too many spiders, impacting their experience negatively.
  • Arachnophobia Mode changes spiders into totem-like creatures, but the lack of enemy variety still presents an issue.

Some Hogwarts Legacy players have suggested that the game has too many spiders, even with the accessible Arachnophobia Mode feature. Although spiders play an important role in the Harry Potter series, some fans think there may be too many in Hogwarts Legacy.

Since Hogwarts Legacy was released, it has received many updates that mostly tuned the game, with the last major patch introducing a plethora of previously exclusive content. Build version 1140773 included a helpful feature for players with arachnophobia that allowed them to turn the game’s many spiders into totem-like creatures with rollerskates. This refers to Ron Weasley’s arachnophobia in the Harry Potter series, and the form that he turned a spider Boggart into when he learned the Riddikulus charm. While Hogwarts Legacy’s Arachnophobia Mode has benefited many players, some still believe the game includes too many spiders.

Even if It Has to Cut Through Red Tape, Hogwarts Legacy 2 Could Use One Feature on All Platforms

Now that a Hogwarts Legacy sequel might be on the horizon, there is one essential feature that every platform needs to support.

Reddit user ZealousidealLaugh494 recently shared their view on Hogwarts Legacy having too many spiders. According to the player, the game relies on spiders for jumpscares too frequently, and there’s too much of a focus on spider dens in Hogwarts Legacy‘s side quests. Given that completing the game requires that players finish these side quests, they may prevent some players from experiencing as much of it as they otherwise could. The gamer acknowledges the existence of Arachnophobia Mode, but dismisses it by pointing to the spiders themselves as “too much.” The Reddit user suggests that the abundance of spiders and quests involving them makes them “nauseous.”

Hogwarts Legacy May Have a Spider Problem

While players may find that there are too many spiders in Hogwarts Legacy, the game repeats a lot of the enemies. This means that beyond the prevalence of spiders, there are also a lot of Ashwinders, Goblins, Pensieve Sentinels and Guardians, Poachers, and Trolls. Arachnophobia Mode also doesn’t change the field guide, making the typically helpful journal a potential hazard for gamers who fear spiders. Some top responses to ZealousidealLaugh494’s post point to this lack of variety in Hogwarts Legacy enemies. Beyond being uncomfortable with regularly running into spiders, some gamers have highlighted that it makes the game feel repetitive at times. Other users also recommended using mods to turn spiders into something else, but this is largely limited to PC.

As Avalanche Software seems to be working on Hogwarts Legacy 2, the sequel may not feature as many spiders as its predecessor. Although Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t regularly receive updates, it could see a change to Arachnophobia Mode that provides some variety to the enemy.
