Dota 2’s 7.38b Patch Tries To Fix The Most Broken Heroes of The Wandering Waters Update
After the huge map changes that came with the Dota 2 Wandering Waters update, 7.38b has seen some deforestation so that movement between jungle creeps is a little better. There’s also some tweaks to Tormentor that should make the dangerous PvE enemy a little more manageable given it’s now a much more contestable objective.
There’s a few item changes, including Glimmer Cape getting nerfed and its mana cost increased, Heavens Halberd becoming more expensive, but the main thing appears to be to slow down the movement speed in a lot of cases.
Neutral items also got some fixes, mainly nerfing some of the lower tier items, and buffing tier 5 items. Pirate Hat is probably the most notable change with Plunder bonus gold increasing by 250 to a huge 400 gold. This makes it perhaps one of the best options for heroes that have fallen behind in the net-worth but find themselves in a 60+ minute game.

On the hero side, the incredibly broken Winter Wyvern facet, Recursive, that meant that enemy who died under Winter’s Curse would transfer it to another enemy, has been nerfed considerably. Winter’s curse no longer amplifies physical, magical, and pure damage taken from Winter Wyvern. To balance this, the base Winter’s Curse spell has also had its cooldown increased, and the cursed target now takes damage from Winter Wyvern and her controlled units. Invoker got some tweaks to his Facets as well, as valve seems desperate to push the spellcaster into more team-orientated roles.
Full details of the changes are available on the official patch notes page, and are also available in-game if you’d prefer.
There’s also a new Dota Plus season, bringing with it the unfortunate knowledge of just badly the final leg of Crownfall cavern crawling managed to affect your winrate. And there’s a new seasonal treasure for Plus subscribers.
