All Pop-Up Camp Locations In Windward Plains

Every region in Monster Hunter Wilds comes with a Base Camp location, which is where the player can rest, forge new weapons and armor pieces, post or join new quests, and trade with the local vendors. However, going back and forth to the Base Camp from the further parts of a region can be tiresome, which is why the game introduces Pop-up Camps.

While pop-up camps cannot be built wherever the player desires, there are multiple pre-determined locations for them in every region, and the player can decide which ones to use. Every region has a certain limit for the number of pop-up camps that can be set up, which gives this little part of the gameplay a small essence of strategy as well.

Generally, it is best to build at least one pop-up camp in every layer of a region to ease access to any part of the map. But depending on the locations where monsters reside, it’s also good to consider choosing camp spots that are near the monsters you want to farm in the future.

All Pop-Up Camp Locations In Windward Plains

As the starting region, Windward Plains is home to a variety of low and high-level monsters. This map features three layers with up to 17 sections in total. Windward Plains also hosts the most pop-up camps in the region, though players cannot build more than 4 camps in general.

Building pop-up camps requires the player to spend Guild Points. The price for each camp will be different. Aside from the price, there is also a safety measure for the camp, which determines how likely it is to be destroyed by a monster. Camp locations with a Dangerous safety level could be destroyed at any moment after being built, as they are quite close to the locations where monsters roam.

Area 4: Mineral Cave And West

  • Safety Level: Safe (Mineral Cave), Dangerous (West)

Two camp spots are available in Area 4, but discovering this area without guidance could be a little bit confusing. Head to Area 3 first. Now, rotate the map just like the first image above, where Area 1 is located northeast of Area 3. There is a climbable cliff on the west side of Area 3 that will lead you to Area 4 and Area 5 on another layer of the map.

After climbing up, continue the path straight until you find a small area that branches out from the main body of the path at the north of Area 4. At this spot, mount Seikret and run towards the edge of the cliff to use the sand bridge and reach a mining cave, where you can build a pop-up camp.

Return from the same sand bridge to Area 4’s main path again, and take the path to the north and then west. At the farthest spot of Area 4’s western arm, there is a second spot to build a pop-up camp.

Area 6: Valley Hideaway

Before giving directions to the pop-up camp locations, let’s first talk about how you can find this area, as it is usually undiscovered for the players. Head to Area 3 and then rotate the map so that Area 1 is on the northeast of Area 3. With this perspective, head to the southwest of Area 3, where there is a small cliff to climb up. Now, move straight and take a left when the road branches into two pathways.

This will lead you to another high cliff to climb up, at the top of which the pop-up camp can be set up.

Area 8: Southwest And Southeast

  • Safety Level: Dangerous (both)

The first pop-up camp spot for Area 8 is quite close to the Base Camp and is probably not even worth setting up a camp. That said, it is located southwest of Area 8, when looking at the map in a way that Area 9 is on top of Area 8.

The other camp of this section is located on the southeast. If you draw a horizontal line from this camp, the other camp is on the right bottom corner of this section, below the river.

Area 9: Lookout Hill

This is a small section located north of Area 8. After entering Area 9, take a quick left and climb up the cliff, which is where the pop-up camp is located.

Area 10: Southeast

Area 10 is an easy place to spot. It is located beyond the river, which acts as a borderline between Area 8 and Area 10. So, just cross the river and head straight to the edge of the cliffs, where you will spot the pop-up camp location for this section.

Area 13: Oasis And West

  • Safety Level: Dangerous (Oasis), Insecure (West)

This section of the map features two pop-up camp locations. The first one is quite easy to spot. It is located next to the small lake at the heart of Area 13.

Now, if you rotate the map in a way that Area 13 remains on top of Area 12, move east from the lake and climb on top of the first sand hill you see. The location for the pop-up camp is almost at the top of the hill.

Area 14: Groundwater Vein

Area 14 is located on a different layer of the map compared to the surface, where the Base Camp is located. To enter Area 14, you need to travel to Area 11 first. Now, if you rotate the map in a way that Area 11 stands above Area 13, the entry to Area 14 is located on the southwest of Area 11, as shown in the first two images above. It’s a cave entrance that requires the player to jump down.

As soon as you head down the cave, the Area 14 map will pop up. Continue straight until you pass through a narrow tunnel. The pop-up camp location will be visible after exiting the passage.

Area 16: Bone Desert

This one is quite easy to discover. Rotate the map in a way that Area 13 stands above Area 12. Now, from the lake in the middle of Area 13, move toward the west to find Area 16. The pop-up camp is located on the northern corner of Area 16, which requires the player to take a right after entering Area 16 from Area 13.

Managing Pop-Up Camps

Pop-up Camp Customization - Monster Hunter Wilds

After you discover the camp spots and set up the pop-up camps in the region, go back to the Base Camp at Windward Plains and find the NPC named Pop-Up Camp Mewoster. He resides behind the primary trader of the region.

After interacting with the NPC, you can check out the available camp spots in the region with their respective safety and the Guild Point cost to set up a camp there. Moreover, the player can see the status of the built camps.

Aside from checking the status, the player can also customize the look of each built camp in the region. If you click on Edit Pop-Up Camps, a live preview of the camp will appear on the screen with an abundance of options to change the design and pattern for the tent, along with customizing the colors. Moreover, you can even customize the exterior of the camp by placing chairs, tables, packs of flowers, and some lighting options like a lantern.

It’s worth noting that Tek, or the Pop-Up Camp Meowster, also spawns next to each pop-up camp, providing the services mentioned earlier for that specific camp.
