While also serving as fast travel points, pop-up camps in Monster Hunter Wilds are more than just a location to spawn in. These little tents that the player can scatter around the map are also small hubs that allow the player to change their builds, store their harvested items, and pick up new materials from the chest to add to their inventory.

Oilwell Basin features a handful of spots to set up pop-up camps in different layers of the map. While the functionality of the camps remains the same, they are different in two key factors: Price and Safety. The former determines the number of guild points that the player needs to spend to set up the pop-up camp, while the latter shows how safe the location is against a possible attack by monsters.

The hunter can build up to four pop-up tents in the entirety of this region, which requires the player to think strategically before spending their guild points and choose the spots that can benefit them the most, while also not requiring regular maintenance — though the number of Dangerous and Insecure camp spots in Oilwell Basin is a little bit higher than other regions.

Pop-up camps can be damaged or even destroyed by monsters, so the player actually needs to maintain the camps every now and then if they are not located in a safe spot. While repairing is not a big deal, a destroyed camp is a waste of points.

Area 2: Canyon Divide Pop-Up Camp

This location is closer to Area 1 than Area 2. It is actually located right next to the entrance to Oilwell Basin from the Scarlet Forest. As soon as you enter the region, take a right and jump down. Then take a second right after that, and you will find the location to set up your camp.

This pop-up camp provides easier access to Area 2 and Area 3 compared to Base Camp, which makes it a valuable spot to set up a tent, especially with a high level of safety.

Area 4: Dilapidated Roadway Pop-Up Camp

Another easy spot to set up a camp in. This one is indeed quite close to the Base Camp, while also having a Dangerous level of safety, which probably says it’s not worth spending a guild points on this spot, but if you think a tent here will benefit you, then head to the scorching barrel in the middle of Area 4.

If your map is aligned similarly to the image above, then move to the east and climb up two times. Take a left after that, and you will see the camp spot.

Area 8: Middle Strata North Pop-Up Camp

This camp can be spotted during one of the main story missions. So, you likely already have this marked on your map, but if not, just move from Area 9 to Area 8, and before you step on the path to Area 10, you should be able to spot the camp location on your right.

Area 9: Middle Strata South Pop-Up Camp

This one is quite easy to locate, as it is located in plain sight between Area 9 and Area 11. Simply head from Area 9 toward Area 11, and instead of turning 90 degrees at the south end of Area 9, just keep moving forward and climb on top of the cliff ahead to set up a pop-up camp.

Area 12: Crimson Rivulet Pop-Up Camp

While the path to this camp is located on the border between Area 12 and Area 16, it’s located on a sub-path that branches out from the main road connecting the two areas. As shown on the map above, head north from Area 16 or head south from Area 12 until you spot a narrow passage. Take it down and reach the end of this passage to find the pop-up camp.

Area 13: Limestone Cavern

Assuming your map is aligned just like the image above, head toward the north of Area 13. There is only one narrow path in the middle of this region, but you may miss it, as it is covered by a fallen pillar. So, check out the second image above if you have difficulties finding the path entrance. Follow the passage to the end, and you will eventually reach the camp location.

Area 14: Mining Cave Pop-Up Camp

This camp is located inside a mining cave on the border between Area 14 and Area 16. Rotate your map to align with the first image above. Then, head to the south of Area 14 and look for the climbable cliff shown in the second image.

This will lead you to a new pathway that branches into two roads. Take the left path and ride to the end until you see the pop-up camp spot.

Area 15: Lower Strata North Pop-Up Camp

Rotate your map similar to the image above, where Area 17 is on the right side of Area 15. Now, head to the northeast of Area 15 and follow the pathway until you reach a dead-end, which is where you can set up the personal tent for the hunter.

Being in a dangerous location, the camp that you build here might not age well, especially if there is already a monster roaming around. So, keep in mind that you will need to come back for maintenance regularly.
