WWE 2K25 Brings Back OP John Cena Variant

Summary

  • WWE 2K25 brings back an overpowered “Super Cena” variant with a 100 Overall Rating.
  • In MyRise mode, players can unlock special variants like Finn Balor’s “Demon” persona and Super Cena.
  • The game features over 300 playable characters.

While the wrestling world is still processing John Cena’s recent attitude adjustment, WWE 2K25 is bringing back an overpowered variant of the Greatest of All Time from previous installments. WWE 2K25 is now a little over a week away, and eager fans already have a good idea of what they can expect from the latest entry in 2K’s wrestling franchise. WWE 2K25’s full roster was revealed back in February, with the base game featuring over 300 playable characters.

Not all of these superstars will be available when players first boot up WWE 2K25, as some are unlockable bonuses for playing through the game’s Bloodline-centric Showcase mode or the traditional MyRise story mode. This year’s MyRise will grant players access to special variants like Finn Balor’s alternate “Demon” persona and even original WWE 2K25 characters like Cole Quinn through the mode’s new Live Event feature.

WWE 2K25 Release Time and Date

Sports entertainment fans everywhere await its release, though they’ll need these WWE 2K25 release times to know when exactly they can start playing.

Even John Cena is getting in on the fun in WWE 2K25’s MyRise mode, and players will get to unlock his special “Super Cena” variant as confirmed in the game’s full MyRise character roster (via SmackDown Hotel). This invisible version of John Cena first debuted toward the end of WWE 2K23’s Showcase mode, which was centered around Cena and the many opponents who managed to beat him throughout his nearly two-and-a-half-decade tenure in the WWE. After defeating Cena as some of his most challenging enemies in the WWE 2K23 Showcase, players had to best him one final time – though now the 16-time World Champion was invisible and more powerful than ever.

WWE 2K25 is Bringing Back Super Cena

WWE 2K25’s version stays true to the meme-based nature of “Super Cena,” who is still invisible and sports an overpowered 100 Overall Rating. His invisibility is a play on Cena’s classic catchphrase of “You Can’t See Me,” while his absurdly high power rating makes fun of how the real Cena rarely loses a WWE match. In his designated WWE 2K23 Showcase boss fight, Super Cena could even unleash a devastating Super Finisher that could be near impossible to kick out of.

John Cena was already making headlines thanks to his 2025 retirement tour, but he most recently sent massive shockwaves throughout the WWE fanbase with his sudden betrayal of Cody Rhodes at last week’s Elimination Chamber event. This villainous turn has inspired plenty of gaming-related memes in its aftermath, and while Cody will need to defend his WWE Championship against the real thing at this year’s WrestleMania, WWE 2K25 players will witness the return of “Super Cena” when the game launches on March 17.
