World of Warcraft Has Good News for Fans of Legion

World of Warcraft Has Good News for Fans of Legion

Summary

  • A Legion Remix event for World of Warcraft is likely on the horizon, hinted at by the game’s executive producer.
  • Past clues and comments suggest that the Legion Remix event could be happening before the end of the year.

World of Warcraft has confirmed that fans will be going back to the Legion expansion in “a new way” soon. While not an official announcement, this almost certainly means World of Warcraft will likely be running a Legion Remix event in the near future.

Last summer, World of Warcraft ran Mists of Pandaria Remix, a special game mode where players went back to the iconic expansion with modern class balance and overpowered abilities and gear. The limited-time event was so popular that fans immediately began asking when they might experience Remixes of other acclaimed expansions, such as World of Warcraft: Legion.

Now, World of Warcraft has all but confirmed that Legion Remix is on the way. During an interview with GameReactor, World of Warcraft executive producer Holly Longdale spoke about revisiting old content within the game. After mentioning Mists of Pandaria Remix and Classic, she referenced Legion, saying, “We’re going to be going back there and experiencing it in a new way.” While not an explicit announcement, Longdale’s words confirmed Legion is coming back – and almost certainly in the form of a Remix event.

World of Warcraft: Legion Remix Could Be Coming Soon

This isn’t the first time World of Warcraft has heavily implied Legion Remix was on the way. Shortly after Warcraft Direct in November 2024, World of Warcraft game director Ion Hazzikostas made a cheeky remark to The Comeback Kids when they asked if Legion Remix was coming, noting the “fel-green tinge towards the right end of the roadmap” that was revealed during the broadcast. Altogether, it seems extremely likely World of Warcraft: Legion Remix might be happening sometime before the end of the year.

We’re going to be going back [to Legion] and experiencing it in a new way.

It is important to note that Legion Remix has not yet been officially confirmed. It is possible Longdale could have been referencing a different surprise in store for players, or that Legion Remix might happen later on, if ever. But, considering World of Warcraft Classic needs to get through all of Mists of Pandaria – and likely Warlords of Draenor – before Legion could come to the progression realms, a new Remix event seems to be the most logical explanation.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Remix ran in the months leading up to the launch of The War Within. According to the updated World of Warcraft roadmap for 2025, Midnight will be formally revealed this summer, with Player Housing – likely as a part of the expansion’s Pre-Patch – expected to arrive in some form before the end of the year. If World of Warcraft follows the precedent set with its first event, a Legion Remix running from late 2025 until the anticipated release of Midnight in early 2026 would fit perfectly within Blizzard’s release cadence and patterns.
