There are a lot of different materials in Monster Hunter Wilds. There are the many you can get from monsters, there are scales from fish, there are berries and mushrooms, Slinger ammo, and so much more. And of course, we can’t forget about the humble Mining Outcrops, holding countless chunks of ore.

Except you can’t tell what ore you’ll get at first glance, making it a lot of trial and error to even get it. Fucium is one of the rarest pieces of ore in the game too, making that search even harder. If you know where and when to look though, that experience gets a little bit easier. Let’s get started.
Where To Get Fucium
Fucium is ore, meaning it can only be found in Mining Outcrops. Unlike many other pieces of ore though, it is restricted to one location, and one location only. Fucium can only be found in Mining Outcrops in Wyveria, though it has the same chance of being mined from any of them.
There’s a few ways to increase your chances of getting Fucium to drop. The first is to farm during the Plenty, as most materials have a higher chance of giving you more materials, and dropping ones of a higher rarity. If you see a Mining Outcrop with sparkles around it, then this one is more likely than most to drop rare materials.
To help with your farming for Fucium, make sure to set a filter on the map to only show material collection points.
Your Palico will also help you gather up materials along the way. If you see them approaching a Mining Outcrop, let them do their thing first. If the vein still has ore in it, your Palico can mine from it, picking up a piece of ore of two. However, this doesn’t reduce the number of times you can pick from the Mining Outcrop, effectively giving you more chances for Fucium to drop.
You can also check your Palico’s Field Pouch from the menu to see exactly what they’ve picked up.
If you’re still struggling to get Fucium drops from Mining Outcrops during your runs, then there is one more thing you can try to boost your chances – The Azuz armor set. It comes with the maxed-out Geologist skill, increasing the number of items you get from each outcrop. It might not guarantee you get Fucium, but at least you’ll get more when it does drop.
How To Use Fucium
So why exactly is Fucium so important? Well, it’s used to create a lot of armors due to its properties of being able to fuse anything together. A metallic process of emulsion. This is more than just words though, with it showing up in a large variety of otherwise disconnected armour sets. For example, the High Rank version of the Ingot armour uses Fucium.
Even better is the Guild Ace armour set, based on Olivia’s own armour. Every piece of this armour set uses Fucium, approximately ten in total. It will take a little while to get that much Fucium, though a steady farming run should let you gather it up fairly quickly.
