Wednesday Season 2 Can’t Neglect Wednesday For New Cast Members

Wednesday Season 2 Can't Neglect Wednesday For New Cast Members

Summary

  • Wednesday Season 2 shouldn’t focus only on new cast members; must prioritize Wednesday Addams’ character arc.
  • New characters in Wednesday Season 2 should enhance but not overshadow Wednesday’s journey.
  • Balancing storylines vital; Wednesday needs to stand out in Season 2 with a focus on her character.

When Wednesday season 2 premieres on Netflix later in 2025, fans will be happy to see more of the perfectly sarcastic Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega). Now that she’s been at Nevermore Academy for a year, she’s adjusted to being away from home, made some new friends despite her best efforts, and uncovered the identity of the horrifying Hyde Monster. Wednesday will also interact with quite a few new cast members as viewers have said goodbye to some characters and are getting ready to welcome some new ones.

Although Wednesday season 1 was hilarious, fun, and surprising, some viewers didn’t like the love triangle between Wednesday, Xavier (Percy Hynes White), and Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan). Ortega wasn’t a fan of that storyline, either, and commented publicly that it didn’t fit the character’s vibe. While it doesn’t seem like there will be romance in Wednesday season 2, the new episodes should avoid something else: focusing on the new characters and neglecting Wednesday Addams.

Wednesday Season 2 Can’t Ignore Wednesday And Only Focus On New Cast Members

Jenna Ortega in Wednesday

There are several new cast members in Wednesday season 2, including Steve Buscemi, Lady Gaga, Thandiwe Newton, and Haley Joel Osment. But Wednesday can’t lose sight of the unique main character at the heart of the story, and Wednesday Addams character needs a satisfying character arc. By the Wednesday season 2 finale, she should feel different or have experienced a big life change. This would also make a Wednesday season 3 feel even more exciting.

Although it will be fun to see Osment in Wednesday season 2, the series is ultimately a coming-of-age tale about a teenage Wednesday Addams. The story follows her desire to be herself in a world that doesn’t always support that. While fans of the Addams Family have seen this memorable and beloved character in several previous movies, this new Wednesday stands out because she’s away from the people who helped her become who she is. Fans haven’t gotten the chance to see Wednesday stand on her own two feet. Now that Wednesday is back at Nevermore Academy, Wednesday season 2 has the opportunity to dive deeper into this character’s journey. She should learn new things about herself and what she wants out of life.

There’s a delicate art to balancing the various storylines of major and minor characters. While some shows do this easily and properly, others miss the mark. By the last episode of Stranger Things season 4, several fans felt that the characters spent too much time apart and that not everyone got a meaningful or interesting plotline. In contrast, fans wouldn’t mind seeing Wednesday spend a lot of time on her own. She’s a rebel who likes her own company, and that’s part of what has made her such a lovable character who stands the test of time.

Focusing too much on the new characters could steer Wednesday season 2 in the wrong direction. Although one of the new cast members could be playing Wednesday’s mysterious stalker, the main story still needs to be about Ortega’s character. Besides the major stalker plotline, Wednesday has to be in most scenes. Perhaps there could also be a flashback episode that shows a younger Wednesday at the Addams Family mansion. This episode could also reveal a big secret or aspect of her character that fans didn’t know about. Hopefully, the new characters will flesh out her world and the show won’t become confusing and cluttered.

Which Characters Could The New Wednesday Season 2 Cast Members Play?

Details about the Wednesday season 2 cast members are being kept quiet. However, Steve Buscemi might be playing the new principal at Nevermore Academy. It was smart to cast Buscemi in the new season and since he plays such distinct, stand-out characters, there’s no doubt he will be just as fascinating on this dark, funny, and riveting Netflix series.

While Lady Gaga’s Wednesday season 2 character is unknown, Jenna Ortega talked about her hopes for the role in January 2023 at the Golden Globes. According to Entertainment Weekly, she said she wanted the singer and actress to be part of the second season and she said:

“I’m sure Netflix would love that. I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other.”

Fans will have to wait until later in 2025 when Wednesday season 2 arrives on Netflix to learn the identities of these new characters and to see Tyler Galpin at Willow Hill, as a recent teaser shared.
