It’s about to be a summer filled with plenty of nostalgia, as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 has finally been unveiled and is coming on July 11. Activision has been teasing a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 reveal over the past several weeks, putting a countdown in the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Grind map, discounting Pro Skater 1 + 2 on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, and more. The original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and Pro Skater 4 were released in 2001 and 2002, respectively, and a new generation of gamers have been clamoring to experience these beloved titles with a modern coat of paint.

This wave of Tony Hawk remakes began when Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 was released in 2020 to critical acclaim, earning an 89 on OpenCritic and being praised for its nostalgic 90s and early-2000s soundtrack. However, the remake’s developer, Vicarious Visions, was folded into Blizzard Entertainment in 2022, becoming a support studio for Diablo 4 as Blizzard Albany. This led to much disappointment among Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater fans and fans of skating games in general, who seriously doubted Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 would ever see the light of day with Vicarious Visions being swallowed by Blizzard.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater is a series of skateboarding games from Activision. The original trilogy of games, which were developed by Neversoft and released between 1999 and 2001, were huge hits with critics.

2002’s Pro Skater 4 was also well received, although 2015’s Pro Skater 5 received a brutal 32 Metascore on PS4. The first two Pro Skater games were remastered in 2020.
