Zatanna and Constantine are two of the most interesting characters in DC, but unfortunately, as a couple, they struggle to get it right. This doesn’t stop them from earning a place on this ranking, as when they are written right, it makes for a great story and a great couple.

They are often portrayed with a Bad Boy / Good Girl dynamic, which although tiresome at times, has led to some very rewarding stories over the years. For all his faults, Zatanna sees the good in John Constantine and is willing to stand by him no matter what, which, although not the wisest idea, shows how much she loves him.

After multiple breakups and turmoil in the relationship, with Steph even taking the mantle of Robin for a time, the two became a truly capable crime-fighting couple, with Steph taking up the mantle of Batgirl, and Tim as Red Robin. Diana, fascinated by the outside world, was drawn to Steve and left her home with him to join the Allies during World War 2. This origin of the couple was made popular again in the 2017 Wonder Woman film.

The couple have a refreshing dynamic that’s not seen too often in comic book stories, with Steve often taking the role of the “damsel” in distress and Wonder Woman coming to the rescue. This dynamic has made for some great stories, especially during the Golden Era.

The two help each other in different ways, with Beast Boy helping Raven relax and enjoy life, while Raven helps Beast Boy learn how to deal with serious situations, which is very important for a superhero. Overall, the couple is a great pairing, and it’s great for readers to see how happy they make one another.

It’s a shame that the TV show has left a stain on the otherwise great couple, and hopefully, they will be shown in a better light in the future.

As ancient Egyptian lovers, Prince Khufu and Princess Chay-Ara were cursed to reincarnate and fall in love all over again for eternity. As Thangarians, an advanced humanoid race, they were already happily married before tracking a fugative to Earth, and choosing to stay, becoming key members of the Justice League.

Their most heartbreaking and popular story came from the Identity Crisis comic run in 2004. After being killed on their wedding anniversary, it’s revealed that Sue was going to surprise Ralph by telling him she was pregnant. This loss completely broke Ralph, and at Sue’s funeral, he physically couldn’t keep himself together, showing how much he truly loved and cherished her.

It was there that he met a powerful member of the Female Furies, Big Barda, and almost instantly fell in love.

The pair fled Apokolips and headed for Earth, where they both became heroes and joined the Justice League and other superhero teams. The couple has one of the most wholesome and long-lasting marriages in comic book history, with the original writer Jack Kirby basing it on his own marriage.
