Grinding Gear Games is teasing what we can expect to see in Path of Exile 2 0.2.0 later this month, and we’ve got some info on one of the new Ascendancy Classes coming to the game. That’s not all, though, because GGG has also revealed two new unique items and improvements to the endgame, so we’ve got a lot to look forward to in PoE 2.
First up, Grinding Gear Games gives us a look at a new Path of Exile 2 Ascendancy. As of right now, there are 12 Ascendancies divided between the six current classes, but there are more on the way. GGG says the full launch will have 12 total classes (and thus even more Ascendancies) to pick from, so you can expect more variety in Path of Exile 2 over time. Right now, though, GGG has shared an image of one of the new 0.2.0 Ascendancies, seen below.
The image shows someone holding a crossbow, giving orders to a soldier brandishing a sword and shield. This is also an image that has appeared for the RPG‘s Mercenary before, so it could well be an Ascendancy for that class. Grinding Gear Games adds some flavor text, which reads: “Countless wars have left you with skills somewhat resembling a decent officer…”
GGG has remained tight lipped alongside this reveal, so we’ll likely have to wait for 0.2.0 to drop to learn more. Each of the Path of Exile 2 classes will have three Ascendancies eventually, and this will be one of them.
That’s not all, however, as Grinding Gear Games shows off two unique items arriving alongside 0.2.0. There’s the Prism Guardian Shield and Deepest Tower Helmet, both of which will be the perfect start to enhancing your Path of Exile 2 builds. GGG also says that the endgame is getting changes, “including improvements and new choices for the Atlas Passive Skill Tree.”

Even the Atlas map towers are getting much better, after they’ve felt quite mundane since the early access launch. Starting in 0.2.0, towers can spawn with mechanics like boss fights, and these can even be ‘juiced’ by tablets used on nearby towers as well. You can also expect new support gems “with an emphasis on skills that are lacking support gem options.”
Back in February Grinding Gear Games estimated that patch 0.2.0 would launch in “approximately one month,” so you can likely expect it sometime around the week of Friday March 21.
With 0.2.0 looming, make sure you keep an eye on the Path of Exile 2 server status. Otherwise, we’ve got all you need to know about the Path of Exile 2 endgame.
