Originally released in 1991, A Link to the Past is the only mainline Zelda title for the SNES, but it is widely considered one of the best entries in the franchise. After the sorcerer Agahnim takes over Hyrule Castle following the murder of its king by the Dark World’s monsters, Link sneaks into the castle’s dungeons and escorts Princess Zelda to the safety of a nearby sanctuary. After Link proves himself worthy to wield the Master Sword, Zelda is abducted again by Agahnim’s forces and taken to the Dark World, where the bulk of the game takes place. A Link to the Past has been released on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch Online SNES app.
