Monster Hunter Wilds sells so fast it just broke a Capcom record

Capcom says Monster Hunter Wilds has surpassed eight million copies sold in just three days, making it the fastest game in the company’s history to do so. Wilds has already been a colossal success on Steam despite the mixed reviews, and now we know just how well the newest entry in one of Capcom’s flagship series has done.

Now that Monster Hunter Wilds is here, it’s clear that Capcom’s action RPG series is bigger than ever before. The game has already peaked at over 1.3 million concurrent players on Vale’s platform, and continues to hold strong just a few days since launch. We don’t have the console player numbers, but Capcom’s latest news on the overall sales tells us Wilds has done very well.

“Capcom today announced that worldwide sales of Monster Hunter Wilds, released on Friday February 28, 2025, surpassed eight million units in three days, which is the fastest a title has reached this milestone in the company’s history.”

This is easily one of Capcom’s biggest, and quickest successes, to date. For reference, the developer said in 2024 that Resident Evil Village achieved ten million copies sold, three years after it launched in 2021. The studio’s new fighting game, Street Fighter 6, also sold over three million copies around six months after launch. As of December last year, however, the entire Monster Hunter series has exceeded 108 million copies sold.

Monster Hunter has only been getting bigger over the last few years, too. In 2024 the studio said that World topped 25 million copies sold since 2018, while Monster Hunter Rise has flown past 16 million sales since 2021.

On top of the series’ general growth, Monster Hunter Wilds has done a lot to bring new players in. There were two separate betas, giving players the chance to try the game for free ahead of time. You can also play Wilds via crossplay between PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, making the co-op game even easier to experience with friends.
