Monster Hunter Wilds has one of the best character creators in gaming history. Sure, if you mess things up the first time around, Capcom will make you pay to try again (unless you download a mod), but generally, it’s a really great tool.
Before the game was even released, players were making the likes of Malenia, Majima, and Square Enix legend Yoshi-P to help them on their hunting adventures.

It’s an interesting combination if ever we saw one.
But, while some have been using Monster Hunter’s vast array of tools to create their favorite characters, both real and fictional, others have been using them to immortalize their dearly departed fluffy friends.
Monster Hunter Wilds Is Giving Players Another Chance To Hang Out With Their Pets
Over on the Monster Hunter subreddit, players have been sharing stories about how they’ve used Monster Hunter Wilds to help them deal with the grief of losing a pet.
The first post came from MikeLFEA, who lost their cat Jackie the day before Wilds launched. The Redditor said their journey with Jackie started around the same time they got into the series with Monster Hunter Tri. They said, “I’m unbelievably broken about losing her, but having her by my side in this journey makes me feel like she’s not gone. She may be gone from this world, but her memory lives on forever while she’s fighting beside me. That gives me so much peace, and I’m forever grateful to Monster Hunter for this.”
jussumd3wd shared a similar story after they tragically lost four cats in a house fire last year. In Wilds, the Redditor recreated their cat, Mr. Kitty, saying, “Sometimes it gets hard to playthrough the tears, and I know it’s not really her, but it seriously means so much to me.”
It’s stories like this that show just how important gaming is. Now I’m going to cuddle my cat.
