Where can you find the Monster Hunter Wilds Dapperwing? Dapperwings are an endemic life species needed to complete Samin’s Research Rreport, a side quest that appears fairly early on in Monster Hunter Wilds.

These elusive birds can be hard to find in the large Monster Hunter Wilds map, but it’s worth it. Completing Samin’s research report rewards you with ten Blue Mushrooms, five Honey, and 50 Guild Points. Catching these birds is one of the many Monster Hunter Wilds quests that requires you to hunt down a specific species of endemic life like the Monster Hunter Wilds Tracktail Lizard, which you need to complete first.

Where is the Monster Hunter Wilds Dapperwing?

You can find the Dapperwing in the Scarlet Forest. The best location to find them is on the ruins opposite the Area 17: Great Lake Shore pop-up camp fast travel point during the season of Plenty.

We also spotted Dapperwings in the trees and ruins of area 10 and 12. Their colors change throughout the seasons, but they’re brightest and therefore easiest to spot during the Plenty. Use the ‘Rest’ function in your tent to explore the Scarlet Forest during the daytime in the season of Plenty for the best chance to spot these small but colorful birds.

How do you catch a Dapperwing?

To catch this flighty bird, you just need to equip your net on the item bar, then aim and shoot. Sometimes you’re even able to catch two if they’re nesting close together.

Dapperwings fly off on a failed capture attempt, but they don’t seem to mind the close proximity, so it’s worth taking the time to position yourself before throwing your net. We recommend mounting your Seikret and approaching slowly, as not to spook them and to give yourself the higher ground.

Now you know how to find and catch a Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds, prepare for the MH Wilds monsters you’ll encounter in the Scarlet Forest with the best MH Wilds weapons in the game.
