The date was chosen simply since March 10 looks like “Mar10” when abbreviated, which is similar to Mario’s name. However, the 2025 edition of Mario Day will fall alongside the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. for the NES. As one of the main forces behind the video game industry’s recovery following the infamous 1983 crash, the Mario franchise continues to evolve across each Nintendo console.

With March 10 just a few days away from the time of writing, Nintendo has revealed some deals for this year’s festivities. According to a Nintendo blog post, the Mario Day sale will include $20 discounts on seven Nintendo Switch games. The discounted games are Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, Super Mario Odyssey, and the spinoffs Princess Peach: Showtime, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong. The 2025 Mario Day sale begins on March 9 and ends on March 15 at Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and GameStop in the US.

Along with the discounted Mario franchise games, a new Nintendo Switch OLED bundle, which includes a digital code voucher for Super Mario Bros. Wonder and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online subscription, will be available for $349.99, with a savings of $67.98 if all three items were purchased separately. The Switch OLED bundle will be available at GameStop and Best Buy while supplies last.
Additionally, the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo will be available at Walmart, Target, GameStop, and Best Buy stores across the US starting March 9 for $99.99, while supplies last. As of February 14, the Nintendo Alarmo no longer requires users to maintain a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Other promotions for Mario Day include a Super Nintendo World sweepstakes, a JetBlue aircraft crossover, and a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe community challenge tournament.
The 2025 Mario Day celebration will happen weeks before the highly-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 Direct goes live on April 2. What surprises Nintendo has in store for the Mario franchise throughout 2025 remains to be seen.
