A vibrant blend of condensed, turn-based tactics and deckbuilding card games, it was all about chaining together flashy fight scenes in small rooms. Imagine Casino Royale’s knock-down-drag-out bathroom scene but with a more methodical approach. It’s got a 92% positive rating from over 2,700 user reviews on Steam, and that success has helped launch a follow-up: Knights in Tight Spaces.
While it has the same core gameplay, Knights in Tight Spaces makes some pretty big changes and additions to the original game. The first and most obvious is the shift to a fantasy game setting. Instead of brawling with goons in hotel rooms and bars, you’re now in taverns and castle keeps, with magic and living skeletons to contend with.
You’ve also got 300 cards to use, with a handful of different characters to utilize in the cramped locales. Deck synergies and team-up moves are aplenty, but you’ll also want to use your surroundings to come out on top.
If you love the tile-based combat of XCOM and the deckbuilding opportunities of Slay the Spire, Knights in Tight Spaces has exactly what you’re looking for. Your party makes its way along a procedural map as you progress and upgrade, but this isn’t the only mode on offer.
