Dexter, Dexter: New Blood, and Dexter: Original Sin simply weren’t enough of the slasher for fans, so Showtime is bringing the band back together for another go-around with Dexter: Resurrection. As if bringing back series regulars like David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista and James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry wasn’t enough, the production team has brought on heavy hitters like Peter Dinklage and Uma Thurman for new roles as well.
It’s clear the minds behind Dexter: Resurrection aren’t resting on their laurels as they bring the beloved serial killer back to the small screen for a fourth time in the last twenty years. Having beloved supporting characters return is one thing, but bringing serious A-list talent is an entirely different beast altogether. The creative team didn’t stop upping the ante with Thurman and Dinklage either, as one of the original faces of Marvel’s Netflix universe of shows will be joining the fray too.

Dexter: Resurrection Looks Like It Might Also Be Set In This Location
Dexter: Resurrection is currently filming in New York but it looks like it might be partially set in Miami.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter has joined Dexter: Resurrection in a guest-starring role. Ritter will be playing the enigmatic part of “Mia” and absolutely zero details have been given about her character outside of that singular name. Booking an actor of Ritter’s talent and status is no mean feat, even if it isn’t for a full-time part.
While Marvel fans are left in the dark to speculate whether she’ll be returning to the MCU as the foul-mouthed detective with a bad attitude, Ritter will be putting her creative gifts to good use on Dexter: Resurrection. Not that you have to be a fan of Jessica Jones to be excited about Ritter joining Michael C. Hall and crew. No, Ritter’s storied acting career has plenty of highlights that exist outside the House of Ideas’ realm of superheroes.
Ritter first came to the attention of television fanatics thanks to early roles on Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls. Of course, her short standout role as Jane Margolis on Breaking Bad really took her career to the next level and she began headlining short-lived but much-loved series like Gravity and Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23. In 2015, she booked the main role in Jessica Jones and the rest is history.
It’s true that Ritter might forever be best known for playing the titular role in Jessica Jones, but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t continued doing everything in her power to show up in interesting, varied projects. Her two most recent stints on television were in the well-regarded HBO Max miniseries Love & Death and the sci-fi sequel series Orphan Black: Echoes. The gamers in the audience will certainly remember her role as Director Rockwell in 2024’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The busy actor even is a singer/guitarist in Ex Vivian and wrote a novel titled Bonfire back in 2017.
Ritter is clearly no one-trick pony and one can’t help but wonder what Dexter: Resurrection has in store for her. Will Mia make it out of the series alive? Is she going to be playing one of Dexter’s victims? How long can Dexter keep getting away with everything? Fans won’t have to wait long to find out.
Dexter: Resurrection is scheduled to release in Summer 2025.
