The story campaign in Monster Hunter Wilds might trick some of the players that the game is quite easy, and the monsters don’t pack a strong punch, but that assumption will most likely change after facing the first epilogue monster, which is also when most players realize they must scavenge for high-level materials if they want to beat the High Rank monsters.
The High Rank experience is quite different compared to that of the story campaign. Players will get to make gear and weapons with new formulas that require new top-notch materials. Gracium is just one of those high-level materials that is quite rare, but still not the rarest item in the game!

How To Unlock Gracium
Before you can farm Gracium, you need to unlock this material. Gracium is only available in High Rank. This means the player must finish the story campaign first and reach the end of Chapter 3. After the credits roll, the next chapter will kick off. Finishing the first quest of Chapter 4 is also mandatory to unlock the ability to freely roam on the map.
Once the player successfully manages to capture a Yian Kut-Ku in this quest, the entire map of the game will become available, and so will all the new materials to harvest, including Gracium.
How To Get Gracium
Gracium can be collected from the Mining Outcrops located in Iceshard Cliffs. So, you will need to farm all Mining Outcrops available in the region, but some of them have a higher chance of dropping Gracium, including the outcrops located in Section 8 and Section 20. As marked in the images above, there are three mining outcrops in three corners of Section 8. There is also usually a monster roaming in the middle of this section, but it won’t attack if you keep your distance from it.
Each Mining Outcrop will be restored 15 minutes after being farmed. Finishing a quest is another way to restore them if you manage to conclude it in less than 15 minutes. Players who can’t wait 15 minutes may need to fast-forward the time and season in the game, but that requires a significant number of guild points, and, honestly, it is not recommended.
What Is Gracium Used For?
Gracium is required to forge or upgrade higher-level armor pieces, weapons, and charms. Being a Rarity 6 material, Gracium still does not deliver the top-quality version of an item sometimes, as there are still rarer materials like Novacrystal to collect. That being said, Gracium is still crucial to increase Hunter Rank and unlock new endgame content, such as top-level monsters. It is also essential to forge weapons that can deal with the High Rank monsters, especially tempered ones.
