In Kuttenberg, Henry can meet a Guild, which is essentially their own society. They will try to recruit Henry to assist them with their matters. This leads to a series of side quests, culminating in the Spark quest. However, if you’re not careful, it’s easy to miss out on these quests during your first playthrough.
The Civic Duty quest will lock you out of the Spark quest, as you can only have one or the other. If you’ve already completed Civic Duty, you can either try to find a save file from before you started the quest or simply wait until your next playthrough to complete Spark.
How To Start The Spark Quest
After completing both Feast for the Poor and the Thieves’ Code quests, wait a few in-game days, then fast travel from Kuttenberg to anywhere near Suchdol or the Trosky Region fast travel point.
During the fast travel process, you should get an event called Errand Boy. Make sure to stop and listen to him, as this event will trigger the beginning of the Spark quest.
As soon as you start this quest, Knuckles will, as usual, try to offer you a ‘better’ proposal by suggesting that you kill Chenyek. However, we do not recommend doing this.
You can still go for it if you want, but we haven’t tested what the outcome of the quest will be.
How To Find Black Powder
Now in order to help Chenyek blow up the mines, you first need to get your hands on some black powder. The quest suggests speaking with Eldris, the gunmaker, located just south of the tavern, to ask if he has any for sale.
Unfortunately, he doesn’t have any black powder for sale but will give you a tip on how to obtain it. This will direct you to the area near Bohunowitz, northwest of the map.
Make your way to the shrine on the road cross, where you will see three men waiting by a cart.
Speak to the man at the front, named Whisker, and you’ll need to convince him to give you the black powder by passing a speech check.
Alternatively, you can kill all of them, loot the key from Whisker, and open the chest nearby that contains a Black Powder Keg
.
How To Complete The Spark Quest
With the black powder in hand, make your way southwest of Grund where you will find Goliath and his crew waiting for you.
Interact with him to let him know you have the black powder, which will trigger the next part of your mission.
This will pass the time until nightfall, at which point you need to follow Grund to the mine entrance.
Head inside the mine, go to the lower floor, and place the black powder, then set it to ignite.
Once you’ve done that, you must get out of the mine as quickly as possible. Take the two ladders back up to the surface level and then make your way out of the mine.
After exiting the mine, some guards will attempt to stop you, but you can easily intimidate them using your speech skill to avoid a fight. If that doesn’t work, you can always defeat them in combat.
Finally, after the explosion at the mine, head back to the Hole in the Wall tavern and speak to Chenyek to inform about what you’ve done. Doing so will complete the Spark quest.
