The quest itself isn’t going to be easy as it features a lot of fights. There are also plenty of missable items and objectives. Here, we will guide you on how to complete it without missing any important interactions and valuable items.

Head To The Italian Court

In-game cutscene featuring Godwin dressed as the Cardinal.

You will be playing as Godwin in this quest, so your first task will be to go to the Italian Court. On your way, you will notice a trader; interact with him and purchase St. Barbara Figurine. You don’t have to buy anything else; this figurine would be enough as it will have its uses during the meeting.

If you want to get the True Cardinal achievement/trophy, we advise you to follow the dialogue options we ask you to. Otherwise, you could raise suspicion, meaning you won’t get the trophy.

Once you have reached the coordinates, talk to Jerome Naaz and choose the options “Bow” and then “Evade.”

This will allow you to proceed without any suspicion. After walking briefly, Jerome Naaz will introduce you to Giuseppe Cabrini, who speaks fluent Italian.

Choose the following options when talking to him:

  • Cordial greeting in Italian.
  • How is life here?
  • Why did you stay here?
  • How many guards are under your control?

After that, say your goodbyes and join the council. By doing so, a cutscene will commence.

How To Solve The Dispute

Now, as you are here as the Cardinal, it is mandatory to solve the dispute between the parties and, of course, get the trophy. Both parties will tell you about the issues, and you can come to a conclusion after that.

However, for Godwin to be fluent in Italian, he must get a little drunk. So, go to the left and have a drink. Even if he speaks Italian fluently, you should not ask unnecessary questions as they may raise suspicion.

How To Help Henry

After getting a drink, it is better to help Henry first. While it is an optional task, it will be helpful for you in the long run. You will shortly play as Henry to deal with the soldiers outside, so the fewer there are, the better, and Godwin can help with that.

Talk to Janosh before drinking; he will tell you about a plan. After that, talk to Jerome Naaz and ask for wine. Once you have done that, talk to Janosh again and choose the option “Another Idea?” Then, talk to Jerome Naaz and ask for a cook.

Godwin requesting wine.

Now, talk to Wenceslas Vorsucher and ask his opinion on the dispute. Then, ask him about the guards. When you finish that, speak to Jerome Naaz again and choose these options: “Discuss the guards” and “Is there enough of them?”

After that, talk to Albich of Uniczow. He will ask you whether you remember him, so choose these options: “Remind me”, “What do you think about the dispute?” and then leave. After that, speak with Father Anthony. Ask him about the brotherhood’s demand and tell him you understand. Once done, leave and find Abbot Jan III.

Repeat the same process with him, but here, you will be asking about the monastery’s demands. Once done, talk to Janosh Usher and choose the option “Start closing speech”.

Now, it is time to decide and get the trophy/achievement. To do that, you should support Sedletz. After choosing that option, the opposition party will not be happy, so select “Calm Down”. You will get the True Cardinal achievement if you follow these steps perfectly and don’t raise any suspicion.

If Christian of Pisek agrees to help you during the last quest, you can talk to him in the meeting and tell him about St. Barbara Figuruine. He will give you a pretty interesting idea. Now, when making a decision, you can select “Path towards reconciliation”. This will make both parties work together.

How To Kill The Guards

Henry talking to Hans Capon before fighting.

Now that you are playing as Henry, your objective will be to kill the guards. Talk to Hans Capon and get ready to do some killing.

If you have done the optional objectives when playing as Godwin before, there will be fewer guards to kill.

We recommend doing this stealthily as if you fight one guard openly, the others are likely to charge in, making the whole fight very difficult. The guards stop at a certain point for some time; that is your cue to go behind them in a crouch position and perform the stealth kill.

Once you have killed all of the guards, loot their corpses, as their gear is pretty great. After that, talk to Hans again and choose these options:

  • “Where’s Adder?”
  • “Let’s go find him”.

You can find Adder in the kitchen on the north side of the courtyard. If you are having trouble locating him, look for Hans; he will be standing right outside the place. Open the door, and a cutscene will start, in which Adder goes wild on the maid and is caught in action by her husband.

The best choice here is to defuse the situation. While you can kill Giuseppe, it is better to calm him down. To do so, choose these options: “Calm Down” and “Stop Adder”. After that, stay silent twice and use Brabant’s phrase: Fatta la legge, trovato l’inganno.

This will defuse the situation, allowing you to take Adder to the rest of your friends peacefully. Talk to him outside; now it is time to move on to the next step.

How To Find The Connection Between The Cellar And The Crypt

Wall that connects the cellar and the crypt.

For this part, make sure you are equipped with a torch. Follow your friends into the Cellar. Don’t go with Godwin; instead, go where Hans is. Interact with the walls; shortly after that, a cutscene will trigger. Zizka and the rest of the gang will be here.

Now, before ruining the council, you must free the lords. Choose the options:

  • “We must free the lords”
  • “I want to go with them”
  • “Got it!”

Now, head to the spiral staircase to find Csaba Molnar.

You can either talk to him and try to solve it peacefully, or you can kill him. The best option is, of course, solving it peacefully. It doesn’t matter which skill check you use; you are likely to fail, so after that, choose these options: “Calm down, Adder!”, “We beat you”, “A new life awaits you”, and then let him go. Now, use the key to free the lords.

Talk To Zika

Before you head over to Zizka, there are certain things to do. Samuel will call you, so hear him. He will tell you about some interesting things. Locate the Dry Devil and then go up the stairs. After that, take a left and go inside the room to your right.

South of Zizka, Katherine is guarding a door in the castle. You can locate her as a Skill Teacher on the map. Upon talking to her, you can flirt a little before going to war. This will also increase your reputation and is important to romance her.

That is the armory; take whatever you want, as almost everything there is extremely good, especially the Milanese Cuirass, the best armor plate in the game. Afterward, head back to the spiral staircase and go to the top floor. That is the library, so take all the valuable books and letters.

Now, you are ready to talk to Zizka. Ensure you are fully equipped as a massive battle is about to break. Once you have talked to Zizka, a cutscene will commence. Erik is here with his army, so you must hold him off for some time.

In-game cutscene featuring Addler's last words.

Fend off the ladders and defeat everyone in your way. After a while, you get another objective to defend the outer bailey. Fight the enemies, and then go to the Ruthard Palace through the tunnel. Upon reaching the palace, you will find out that Barbant is a traitor and is trying to steal the silver.

He will kill Addler, so you must defeat his men now. Zizka will ask you to deal with the Archers first; he will come with you. After defeating Barbant’s men, a cutscene will commence, and the quest will end.
