A couple of weeks on from Avowed‘s launch and many of you have likely played your way through to the end of the story The Living Lands have to tell. Some of you might have even played through multiple times to reach different endings. However, not many of you have experienced Avowed’s rarest and most brutal ending.

Big spoilers for Avowed’s story throughout the rest of this article. You have been warned.

Avowed is an Obsidian game so in true Obsidian form, there are various paths to take. However, Big Dan Gaming has detailed how to experience its rarest ending, and GamesRadar has noted only 0.2 percent of Steam players have seen it. You need to play the game a certain way to unlock this achievement, and when you hear more about that way, you will understand why it’s called Tyranny and why so few people have unlocked it.

Avowed’s rich dialogue mechanics have freed me to roleplay much as I want.

You are faced with various decisions throughout Avowed’s story, many of which you will have likely chosen with compassion or mercy in mind – I know I have. That’s how I know it’s already too late for me to experience the tyrannical ending unless I start over. To unlock Avowed’s Tyranny achievement, you need to be the worst, most despicable envoy possible from the beginning of the game until what will be a very bitter end.

Avowed’s Rarest Ending Has Only Been Seen By 0.2 Percent Of Steam Players

If You’re A Part Of That 0.2 Percent, How Do You Sleep At Night?

The decisions you need to make along the way include killing Ygwulf in Paradis, letting the Steel Garrote burn down Fior, allowing Kostya to bring down Solace Keep, and more killing, this time Sapadal being your victim. If you have been making all of those despicable decisions, congratulations, you might soon be a part of the 0.2 percent who have seen Avowed’s rarest ending. The bad news is you’re a monster.

The even worse news is I’m not the only one who disapproves of your decisions. A lot of Avowed is about the friends you make along the way, and none of your companions will have much love for you by the time you’re done. While the evil Inquisitor Lodwyn will be very impressed with your sociopathic, bloodthirsty playthrough, by the time that’s clear, Kai and the rest of your Avowed gang will hate your guts.

Now that an explanation of how to unlock Avowed’s rarest ending is out there, that 0.2 percent will undoubtedly start to tick up. Probably not all that quickly, though. Not only because it will almost certainly require you to start over, but because of what you will have to do to achieve it. I couldn’t bear to see Marius look up at me with hate in his eyes. I’ll continue my regular playthrough and attempt to save The Living Lands.
