A recent leak from Honkai: Star Rail is teasing a major new update coming to the presentation for pulling characters within the game’s gacha system. The gacha system for the massively popular HoYoverse sci-fi RPG serves as one of the game’s main ways of acquiring new characters, with multiple roster members added with each update. The ongoing Version 3.1 added Tribbie to the game as a new five-star character, with Mydei also joining later on during the patch. Now, new information is hinting at a major visual upgrade to the gacha system in the next patch.

While Honkai: Star Rail‘s gacha system has largely stayed the same since its launch, HoYoverse has occasionally looked to tweak things about the game. The developer began to regularly run “triple rerun banners” during some of its updates, allowing players to choose from three different previously-released characters for their rerun. The triple banners have often featured some of Star Rail‘s most popular characters, with Version 3.0 featuring re-runs for characters like Robin, Lingsha, and Feixiao. Now, new characters are set to see a major upgrade when pulled in the gacha.

Honkai: Star Rail Leak Teases Upcoming Gacha System Change

A recent update shared by prominent HoYoverse leaker Sakura Haven is hinting at a significant upgrade to Honkai: Star Rail‘s gacha system. According to the leak, new characters will feature a special animation that will play when the character is pulled on the gacha system. The leaker confirmed that the video has already been finished for Version 3.2 Quantum Remembrance character Castorice, with Anaxa’s likely ready as well. The post also shares that the animation will specifically replace the standard splash art when pulling the character in Honkai: Star Rail‘s gacha.

The animations for Honkai: Star Rail‘s new five-star characters have led to plenty of questions about older characters. Many fans wondered whether past five-star characters would receive their own animations, similar to Genshin Impact adding “party join” animations for its older characters. Others have questioned whether Castorice is being given special treatment by HoYoverse, with a new mechanic added exclusively for her alongside the animations. Castorice and Honkai: Star Rail‘s new gacha animations are set to debut with Version 3.2, currently scheduled for April 8.

The new gacha animations and characters are far from the only pieces of new content coming to Honkai: Star Rail. Version 3.2 will welcome the game’s second anniversary celebrations, complete with a plethora of free rewards and several new events to commemorate Star Rail‘s second year. “Star Rail WORLD” is set to debut as the game’s anniversary event, while permanent game modes like Apocalyptic Shadow, Pure Fiction, and Memory of Chaos will receive new updates. Version 3.2 looks to be a banner patch for Honkai: Star Rail as HoYoverse celebrates another successful year.
