Z-A Trailer Hints At Looker And Emma Return

Pokémon has been around for a number of decades at this point, which means that there have been a bunch of eccentric and beloved characters for fans to latch on to. Looker is just one of them, a member of the International Police for introduced in Pokemon Platinum, but his escapades took him to many more games in the series.

Pokemon X & Y is arguably when he’s at his best, as you encounter Looker in the post-game on a mission to find and arrest a criminal called Xerosic. It’s lovely little storyline that sees Looker take a young homeless girl called Emma and her partner Pokemon Espurr under his wing and take care of them.

We won’t spoil what happens in that little story here, just in case you want to play it for yourself, but what eventually happens is that Looker ends up leaving Lumiose City. He leaves the office he was staying in, but pays for the property in full, so Emma and her Espurr can stay there and stay safe. We haven’t seen Looker or Emma since Pokemon Sun & Moon, but that may be about to change in Legends: Z-A.

First spotted by a Reddit user called PrimalPokemonPlayer, a shot of an office is shown off at the back end of the latest trailer for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which just so happens to look identical to Looker’s office in Pokemon X & Y. the narrator of the trail even says “who knows what kinds of encounters and experiences await you” during the shot, which is as blatant of a tease as you can get.

A few details make the case for Looker and Emma’s return even stronger. For starters, we know the game is a sequel, thanks to ZA and his Floette running the hotel that appears to be the game’s main base of operations. Secondly, PrimalPokemonPlayer notices a trench coat hanging on the wall, an item of clothing that Looker is almost never seen without.

Some think that this may just be teasing the return of Emma, as a picture frame with what looks like an Espurr inside it can be seen on a stack of books on the desk. A theory at the moment is that this is teasing the inclusion of Emma in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and that she’s taken on the job of a detective due to her admiration of Looker. Very wholesome stuff, and I’m now going to be furious if this doesn’t happen. Don’t make me beg Game Freak.
