Gamers awaiting the arrival of Dragon Age: The Veilguard to the March 2025 PS Plus monthly games can get a head start with a free app available on the PlayStation Store. Fans were taken by surprise when Dragon Age: The Veilguard was announced as a PS Plus title, considering the game was only released five months earlier, in October 2024.
Players aiming to add BioWare’s latest RPG to their PS5 library will need to free up some space, as Dragon Age: The Veilguard will require over 80 GB on the PS5’s SSD. EA comments on the underperforming Dragon Age: The Veilguard, pinning the blame for the game’s sales troubles on something unexpected.
As noted by kabirsingh84 on Reddit, players can download the Dragon Age: The Veilguard Character Creation tool from the PlayStation Store. The app is free of charge and offers the same features as the creation tool found in the full game. When launching the creation tool, players can select from various combat classes and races and even save multiple characters. Once gamers are satisfied with their Rook, it can be transferred to the main game when the action RPG becomes part of the monthly PS Plus offerings.
How to Start Dragon Age: The Veilguard Ahead of PS Plus Inclusion
Although Dragon Age: The Veilguard received largely positive reviews from critics, it appears the action RPG has failed to resonate with fans. Following the disappointing launch of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, EA has restructured staff at BioWare, moving some of the team to other EA Studios as it pushes forward with development on the next Mass Effect title.
Despite the restructuring at BioWare, the development of the next Mass Effect game appears to be on track. BioWare’s executive producer, Michael Gamble, recently took to Twitter to reassure fans that Mass Effect’s development is ongoing and that the game is still in its pre-production stage. Given that the RPG is still early in development, it remains unclear how the recent layoffs and restructuring at the developer will affect the game’s eventual release.
Being able to create characters before the main game launches will undoubtedly motivate players to try out Dragon Age: The Veilguard when it becomes part of the March 2025 PS Plus monthly games lineup. Subscribers to Sony’s service will also have the opportunity to download Sonic Colors: Ultimate and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection as part of their membership. All three games will be available across all tiers of PS Plus from Tuesday, March 4, until Monday, March 31.
